Writing a review of a product…

’haven’t used it yet because I got it for my cousin’s birthday and she hasn’t opened it.

why write the review then?! Are people genuinely that stupid?

Permission slips for children's activities.

A large proportion of the time the date of birth bit either has the parents date of birth or todays date.

SofiaSoFar · 15/09/2023 10:56

Regard the recipe reviews, I saw one on BBC Good Food where the reviewer said outright they'd used a completely different recipe for their cake and that it wasn't great, so they gave the recipe they hadn't even tried 2 stars.

The mind absolutely boggles...

meatbaseddessert · 15/09/2023 11:01

Facebook selling ads where the poster has included their own bloody name under 'title' ie the description of this that is being sold.

Today we had a chair called 'Mrs Spencer'

YANBU. Some people have 2 brains cells that are both fighting for third place.

Omg I'm nicking this 🤣

If you have a link to these people I would love to read them. Stuck in bed with a broken foot and need some cheering up.

Sadly, I looked for the TrustPilot guy yesterday & couldn't find him. I'll have a quick look for the hi-vis man, but as I didn't buy mine from amazon, I may not be able to find him, either. I'll give a go.

@SavBlancTonight yes there is at least one of these women on my one. Grin

Ours too.
When we started P1 one of them complained that the school hadn't told her that her child would need a pencil case. To top that, they actually had, in their little guide to starting school.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 15/09/2023 11:17

@garlictwist No luck so far, but this 5star review might amuse you (it's more like the first type I mentioned). Hope the foot heals quickly.

Yes I see this all the time! Usually the over 60s who don't really know how to use social media, so will get an email to say review the product you purchased and they think they actually have to write a review rather than ignore it.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 15/09/2023 11:22

@garlictwist IIRC the original chap said what a good buy his hi-vis vest was & how he liked to wear it & walk up & down the street when council workmen were mending or installing something: it gave him the requisite air of authority while he told them how to do their job, & this was now one of his major hobbies.😂

SavBlancTonight · 15/09/2023 11:24

I'm also always a bit shocked at how people get sucked into the ridiculous scam Facebook posts.

"If someone flashes you at night in the car, it's a gang initiation and you will be murdered if you take the next offramp." x1000 when the person who is so concerned lives somewhere like Surrey.

A big part of why it took me and SIL a long time to build a relationship is how often she would post this sort of thing. I just couldn't be friendly with someone who was this dumb AND paranoid. She's not as bad any more but there's the odd moment where I'm rolling my eyes.

ChristopherTalken · 15/09/2023 11:27

I once worked with a SOLICITOR who asked me (assistant) how she can post a letter. I told her to pop it in the post tray. Later I saw that she had put the letter in without putting it in an envelope. I took it back and said they have to go in already in an envelope. So she put it in an envelope, sealed it, and popped it back in. I asked her how the postman was meant to deliver the letter if she didnt actually write on the front.....

Facebook are going to steal your children ! Paste this message so they know you havent given them permission to steal your children. Like and repost.'

Yes, yes they are.

I know a woman who answers almost every FB group post and if she doesn’t know an answer she comments to say that. Like your example, utterly fucking pointless and no one cares.

Far too many idiotic narcissists around.

I have a FB friend who does this. She'll often say she has no idea what I'm talking about. Or (we're British and there's a lot of Americans in a group we belong to) she'll talk about how things are in the UK even though the person has say they're American and need advice from someone living in the same state, etc.

MrsJackRackham · 15/09/2023 11:31

I bought a Tiffany style lamp from amazon. Reading the reviews someone had given 1 star. It wasn't a genuine Tiffany lamp apparently, he had a Tiffany lamp and this was nothing like it.
No shit, it cost £80 🙄

My second boyfriend who I dated at 14 for 2 weeks, was never more than hand holding no bitter break up etc... so stayed facebook friends when I moved away.

I had to delete him off facebook because he would share ridiculous scaremongering 'BNP' type posts.

'Muslims are buying up all UK churchs to convert into Mosques, no one is stopping them and soon we will be a Muslim only country'... type shit.

I point out on a few of them 'when have you ever SEEN this happen? in the real world?'.

He could never give one example but would say 'it sounds like what they are doing' or 'well they wouldn't say it if it wasnt true' and KEPT posting them.

Facebook has delete friend buttons for exactly this type of reason. It hurt to realize I 'dated' someone that thick even if I was a child at the time.

MonumentalLentil · 15/09/2023 11:46

Facebook group, people post looking for something particular. Group members are what I would consider a reasonably intelligent selection. I have revised my assumption on some of the neighbours based on replies I have seen recently.

Could anyone suggest a place I can sell a large lot of new clothing in this area?

Replies varied but mostly:
Donate it to the people in Morocco
Donate it to charity shop 'a'
Donate it to charity shop 'b'
Vinted - reply was 'not Vinted thanks'. Clearly looking for someone to buy to sell on.
A few more charity shop/donate to posts and then more Vinted

I despair for the future. Not sure if it's the inability to read or more likely to 'think'.

And the person that replied to all posts saying
''Please do not send me any more messages, I'm not interested/don't live there.' Over and over. People replied pointing out how to use the group. I think admin removed her, because it started again with a new name...Must be very patient admins in our group.

When I planned to walk up snowdon mountain I checked trip advisor to see if there were any toilets halfway up (annoyingly it said there were but when I got there the lady in the cafe said there wasn’t and so I couldn’t go any further than half way) but there was a review from a man in a wheel chair saying it wasn’t disability friendly and they need to make it wheelchair friendly - it’s a naturally formed mountain!

Yet you thought there would be toilets half way up!!!!

DancingFerret · 15/09/2023 09:43

On the other side of the coin, some retailers' requests for reviews are just silly. I received an email from Waitrose asking me to review my groceries accompanied by a picture of the single swede I'd bought there about a fortnight previously.🙄

I am longing to read your review of the single swede.

To be fair, if there was a cafe halfway up it's not a completely outlandish assumption.

Totally possible 😁

It could be chemical toi toi style toilets near access road or the summit train

Yet you thought there would be toilets half way up!!!!

Not unreasonable when there's a railway station half way up where the steam trains stop either on route to the summit, or where they terminate to return.

YouAndMeAndThem · 15/09/2023 11:58

Yet you thought there would be toilets half way up!!!!

There’s a cafe halfway up and a restaurant at the top which is why I chose that one as I knew I’d need the toilet.

I wouldn’t expect any normal mountain to have a toilet 🤣🤣

But it’s still a mountain and its not manmade or has smooth paths built in.

NoLikeyNoLightey · 15/09/2023 12:42

I hate when people have given something a 1 star review, not because the product is poor but because they haven't used it properly

My 12 year old stuck a small stone in his ear last night. Why, he doesn't not know. Thanks to him we spent 4 hours in A&E last night.

As a 5yo I stuck a plastic bead up my nose. Why, I do not know. That also took a visit to A&E 😂

Could be worse, could be one of those people who post on Facebook to ask what time the leisure centre opens, despite the leisure centre having a fully functional website with opening times, a phone you can ring to ask the opening times, and A FACEBOOK PAGE WITH THE OPENING TIMES.
