For me, at the moment it's that every single one of our police forces needs an urgent outside investigation.
Women are having more of their rights and safety stripped away every day.

Because trans women want to compete equally in sport with women -that’s not fair

That everything in the UK is completely broken. Everything: health, education, transport, policing, courts - it’s all fucked. Beyond rescue.

We’re also brainwashed. Just like in 1984 where big brother makes fake news reports - we do that now. We massage statistics and talk the talk, covering everything up. I used to commute on a train that takes 30 mins from A to B. The train company got in trouble for frequent lateness. So they declared that the journey now takes 40 mins. But it doesn’t. It’s a 30 min journey that cannot be performed correctly so they pretend it’s a 40 min journey to massage their lateness stats.

Many think the 2 week cancer pathway is a great thing. It isn’t. The specialist appointment should be same day/next day. Not 2 weeks. And then not a further month+ of waiting for the cancer to be cut out. I mean that’s to say nothing of cancer results being lost for months, people with worrying symptoms being told to FO and that they are just anxious or have IBS.

Many think that Ofsted “good” actually means good. Often it actually is covering up the fact that people in 3rd world outdoor classrooms are better educated in the basics than we in the UK are. My dd is Y11, a critical year. In one of her subjects, 4 lessons have taken place. The teacher didn’t show up to three of them.

That social media has normalised and encouraged complete narcissism on steroids. And worse, it has stripped people of the ability to think for themselves. People only have the party line, which they got off social media. They wouldn’t lap up the party line from a government or anyone in authority - but they will only think the thoughts that social media put into their heads. Ironic.

That there are so many people who are nasty, evil liars. We had a car accident. 100% the fault of an idiot on their phone who drove into us without looking. They lied to the insurers saying it was all our fault and we hit them. I gave the insurer dashcam footage proving our version and said - isn’t it a crime for them to have lied like this? Insurer: yes but the police won’t do anything and also the other party could just claim confusion or that you faked the video. Wtaf.

I feel very old and don’t recognise this country anymore. It’s awful. I can imagine people think I’m negative. No, I’m realistic.

The terrible harm caused to teenagers and young adults by the pandemic/lockdowns.

Bicycles are the answer.

That renewable energy is now much cheaper than fossil fuel - the green transition will help us lead better, happier lives. It's not about hairshirts.

Dotjones · 14/09/2023 10:31

Climate change and net zero is part of a plan to control our lives and take away our freedom of choice for things like travel, employment, housing, relationships.

MortifiedSeptember · 14/09/2023 10:42

I'm worried about the ageing population combined with badly funded / managed/ avaliable social care.

AromanticSpices · 14/09/2023 10:56

That climate isn't "weather"

You forgot to mention ‘They’.

Beeinalily · 14/09/2023 11:42

Years ago I read a book by Robert Anton Wilson, and a bit has always stayed with me. He said that if you want to know why something is happening, something bad that you don't understand, just look at who profits (and it's not always obvious). He was talking mostly about arms manufacturers, but these days I'd look at pharmaceutical companies.

For me it's that billionaires are running the world and have radicalised us to accept a form of voluntary slavery

NooNooHead1981 · 14/09/2023 14:54

This, in spades. The pharmaceutical industry profits so much from horrible and neurotoxic medication that destroy lives, yet the drugs are hailed as a panacea for all ills and the cure to help the mental health crisis this country is going through. But dig deeper and you will find that you can't sue the same pharmaceutical company if their medicines permanently harm you (like they have injured me). You would be going against a huge multi-billion dollar industry.

NooNooHead1981 · 14/09/2023 14:55

Sorry, I somehow didn't quote the PP who said about looking at the bad things to do with the pharmaceutical industry 😳🙄

I agree with every single word.
Narcissists have always been protected but now they have laws to protect them with their abuse and their utter insane notion they are always the victim.
Entitlement is the scourge of mankind.
Yes re cancer pathway. My friend was diagnosed stage 3 over a year ago, it was months before she started treatment and her cancer was missed before that.
She's had to fight every step of the way when she should be just fighting the cancer. Hospitals in the same health board don't talk to each other or lose records. She gets told completely different things depending on which doctor or consultant she sees and is still waiting for an operation.

I always think imagine if qualified herbalists had killed and maimed as many people as big pharma it would be outlawed as a practice.

Another one - when you press "reply" on a MN post, it doesn't actually quote the post you're replying to. You currently need to press the 3 dots and "quote". I hope MN change this back...

That riding a bike everywhere, lifting weights and being vegan is the best thing ever.

I feel like I’m just waiting for the rest of the world to realise.

Goiing vegan and brisk walking everywhere have absolutely changed my life. I'm 50s and feel like I'm in my 30s. I really need to start lifting weights as at this rate I'll need my strength for another half century ahead.

The debt epidemic

And most of the ones above too

I know these two things are boring and we all "know" it, but hardly anyone acts like they know it -

Climate change is going to completely destroy the world as we know it, and it could be mitigated

Two women a week are killed by a current or former partner, in England & Wales

Bonus one: you don't need to buy plastic novelty tat. No-one wants it, just look at what fills the charity shops.

Totally agree with both these. Climate change is going to get so much worse if we don't fix it very very soon

What on Earth does this mean?
