Indorex! It works a treat. I’m sure I still have spiders hiding in the house in places but they don’t seem to come out. Although, the first year I used it I did find a lot of bodies…

KeepingItTogether23 · 13/09/2023 22:49

@BellaAndDave how do I use it please?
And where can I buy it? Please dont say online I need it tomorrow morning, my daughter would have freaked and woke the whole estate up if she had seen it

I pick mine up from a local Country Store. B&Q do similar spider repellants too. You spray it around doors, windows, skirtings, I spray it in cupboards etc too and it’s child friendly and pet friendly too.

LizardLizard · 13/09/2023 23:04

They’re rife at the moment, the big house spiders. I’ve removed three from my place this week alone. Thankfully they don’t bother me too much but they’re real whoppers at the minute.

KeepingItTogether23 · 13/09/2023 23:07

@BellaAndDave I'll pop to b&q tomorrow, thanks for the suggestion.
@LizardLizard they are really big arent they, I'm thinking of moving my bed into the middle of the room so I dont end up having one crawling up the wall behind my bed and crawling on me 😖

Agreed - loads this year.
woken at 5am by dd17 asking if I’d go and get one off her bed yesterday morning… that was a fun start to the day

PlantDoctor · 13/09/2023 23:09

I've heard peppermint oil works. I wouldn't use it though - I like spiders a lot more than flies!

KeepingItTogether23 · 13/09/2023 23:10

@Member786488 oh the joys of being a parent 🤣

You can't keep them outside, they don't live outside. They're called house spiders because they live in your house.

Thelnebriati · 13/09/2023 23:21

I use lemon eucalyptus as a deterrent, they really don't like it, and it also gets rid of ants.

Newestname002 · 14/09/2023 00:53

I've just seen this one's sibling scurrying up the wall opposite me and behind the TV! 🕷️

justanothermanicmonday1 · 14/09/2023 02:35

We use lavender here as spiders really dislike the strong smell of it. We soak them in cotton balls and place around the corners of each window sill & doors. Works a treat.

WiddlinDiddlin · 14/09/2023 04:24

You can't.

They're seeking the females that live unseen, in your house.

Indorex may kill them once they come in, but it won't stop them coming in. You may also see more of them as a result of the indorex.

Peppermint and lavender are scents most insects dislike, you can try those, be aware that essential oils particularly lavender are toxic chemicals in their own right and not harmless 'natural' substances that magically only affect the species you want affected!

YesItsMe44 · 14/09/2023 04:40

My last home had a lot of spiders in Spring and Fall. I filled a small spray bottle with water and added about 10 drops of peppermint oil (enough so you can smell the oil). I then sprayed around windows, doors, etc, weekly. You need to deep clean behind/under furniture. They love dark and moist spaces. Think tubs, windows, sinks, basements, etc. It cut down on what I saw. They seemed harmless, but by can they move fast.

gamerchick · 14/09/2023 12:43

They're not 'coming in', they're in your house all year being pest control. They just come out when they're horny and want to make babies.

cafesandbookshops · 14/09/2023 13:15

They’re not going to do any harm to you so why not just ignore it?

Its mating season for spiders so its normal to see them more frequently at the moment and they don’t want contact with you anymore than you want with them.

They prey on flies and are part of the natural environment, which is constantly under attack from our chemicals.

I’d call it Kevin 🙂

There was one zooming around on my bedroom floor last night. I wonder if it’s the same idiot I rescued from the kitchen sink three mornings in a row recently. I hope he finds his lady woman and they have a raucously good time together.

LostThestral · 14/09/2023 13:28

was talking to DH about this just this morning, singing the praises of DCat & what a great job he's doing as I haven't seen a single one only for DH to point out he's removed about 9 in the past week all in weird places & doing weird things whatever that means.
