Hi I’m on the fence about buying a car quick back story is I really need a car as now without one the main contender is

2018 Škoda fabia 64k miles automatic 2 owners it’s £11k the dealer has had it 6 months
what’s everyone’s thoughts on this ?

Other options are Škoda fabia auto 2018 29k miles £12,800

juke auto ( really unsure if it’s too big ) 2017 39k
£13k

more than likely the juke will be too big as it’s my first auto what’s your opinions on the fabias all cars have had 2 owners and they said full service history I’ll be checking this obvs

thank you it’s a big purchase from savings so really need help

The three things I suppose I'd do to help me think it through are:
Check the secondhand guide price for the cars, consider an independent valuation/check, and carefully review any dealer warranty.

I've just bought a manual fabia. 20 plate, 17, 000 miles for 13, 400
Does it have to be automatic? I didn't price those because I love changing gears. On the surface it seems a bit expensive to me but perhaps that's auto for you
Have you checked the book price?

PinkiOcelot · 13/09/2023 05:28

As above.

I know used cars are pricey at the moment, but they seem exceptionally so.

ISeeMisledPeople · 13/09/2023 05:31

The Fabias - do they both come with a warranty?

On the face of it, the more expensive one looks the better buy - but if one comes with a decent warranty and the other doesn't, that could change my mind. The fact that one has been there six months wouldn't worry me, as automatics don't have as strong a resale market - but it would make me more inclined to haggle. They will want it off their forecourt.

Good luck!

They come with a standard 3 month warranty , all 3 dealers have good reviews
yes it has to be automatic
The 11k one is down from 11.5 they won’t go any lower . Not haggled on others yet
The thing I’m also concerned about is the 11k one has a panoramic roof so I’m unsure as never had one .

Is that a skoda dealer?
Mine came with 12 months warranty. 2 years if you used finance

DiddyRa · 13/09/2023 06:16

Juke’s are actually pretty small inside, they appear bigger than they are. Nice to drive too as are most Nissans in my opinion. I had one but found it too small once we had a baby.

MintJulia · 13/09/2023 06:21

Of the three, the 2nd one seems the better value to me. 35,000 miles is three years wear & tear for me.

A 3 month warranty is not that generous. Mine came with 12 months. Have you looked anywhere else?

Lilacinspace · 13/09/2023 06:22

No all are just used dealers not Škoda, having big reservations about the 11k panoramic sunroof .
im going to see the juke Thursday to check it out size wise . I’m without a car so need to decide next week other options I’ve not been to see is a little Suzuki Celerio ( just as a run about for a year ) 51k miles £6.5k

seat Ibiza 17 plate 12k 60k miles however I think this also has a sunroof need to double check

The Fabia doesn’t score especially well for reliability, I’d also be looking at the Jazz, Yaris, i20 and Swift - these all come close to the top of the list for small car reliability.
