Holiday let not returning key deposit

Stayed in a independent private rental booked direct with the owner in Soain in August. Paid via PayPal using my credit card. The payment included a deposit of £125 and clearly states you get this back within 14 days once the keys have been posted back. I did this immediately and followed up a few days later to make sure the owner had received them. He told me he was away on holiday but would let me know when he returned. This was around 2 weeks ago.
I emailed again and it was answered a few days later saying yes they had the keys and would sort out the deposit. This was several days ago. I emailed again reiterating to let me know when he transfers the refund so I can sort my credit card bill out which is due imminently. I've had no response. I have emailed yet again stating it's now been over 3 weeks and I need the money. No response again.
What do I do now? Raise a claim with the credit card company? I have a paper trail of all correspondence.

If you paid via PayPal I would just open a dispute and include the screenshots.

I would email them to advise you are contacting your credit card company to raise a chargeback. Give them 24 hours to reimburse you?

This.
Hopefully they pay within 24hrs and it’ll save you some effort.

Bad form on part of owners to be so slack. I`m sure it will happen as they have acknowledged you and stated they are away.

They were back several days ago and even on holiday you can do online banking!

Go through Paypal by raising a dispute. Add screenshots from all emails/texts you've had. It can take up to 2 weeks, but you should get your money back.

I can't find the transaction on my PayPal activity. It's odd. Like it didn't happen. My account is linked to a debit card not my credit card. He had to send me a different link to pay that way as the original link didn't work. The payment only shows on my credit card account.

Raise a section 75 claim with your credit card. They will sort it out. Not quickly mind, but you'll get the money back.

He's refunded this morning. Wonder whether his family recognised the scenario on here!!
