Boss said he doesn't want to know

I'm having trouble with another department at work. Problems have been going on for a while but without going into detail, they keeping changing things and making life difficult.

My boss asked me today if things are sorted and I said yes but (he interrupted me and said that he didn't want to hear anything else - and also gave me the hand).

I felt embarrassed and it felt like a smack in the face.

Surely there are other ways of telling me to shut up. He came to me to ask how things were by the way, as he knew I've had issues with them.

I don't think you should feel embarrassed - you should be really annoyed by your boss's behaviour though. His job is literally to make sure that you're able to do yours, and he's not even listening to you to work out whether that's possible.

How very rude.

I'd be really pissed off if my manager was dismissive of me like that. But she never would be, because she respects her staff, and listens.

You shouldn’t feel embarrassed, your boss on the other hand…

Maybe another way to look at it is that your boss has complete confidence in you and as soon as it was clear that the issue was sorted, there was no need for further discussion?

It was a bit of an arse way of saying that though.

Ooer. This happened to a workmate the other day. Our boss literally shook his hand in her face to dismiss her concerns. What gross behaviour. Also one of the many reasons he’s now officially my ex-boss.

This is not a you problem, OP. How about going to his boss about these issues? Tell them you tried to talk to him but just got dismissed so you were forced to go higher.
