I pushed my child

I pushed my 8 year old tonight. He was being horribly rude and disrespectful, all the usual methods didn't work (early bedtime, loss of screen time). I know it's no excuse. I lost my temper and shouted, and pushed him (not hard). He was very upset. I have apologised to him and said it was wrong etc.

I feel awful and I'm not coping, but I know that's not good enough and I need to learn to control my temper. Does anyone have any recommendations or techniques etc. I would struggle to go to face to face parenting courses as I'm working almost full time but will consider anything else.

First of all forgive yourself for being human xx guilt is the worst xx

Have you tried guided meditation? I find if I give myself head space time I react much better to poor behaviour.

How are other things at home? Is it the behaviour or is other stuff impacting you.

We all lose our selves from time to time. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
My DS was really challenging at this age. If you feel yourself getting too cross, try and walk away. It is hard when they are back chatting.

am sure you are a wonderful parent but you are also human too.
tomorrow is a new day and just look at some strategies going forward.

Impossible to be a perfect parents 100% of the time! I've started counting to 10 in these moments of difficult parenting!

Is it your temper in general op? Would you do this in work or the car? or just parenting?
Is it a one off…
Just think it’ll be easier for posters to make suggestions if it’s something you are generally prone to or if this was a one off occasion.
