as a new person on here to expect some of my posts to be acknowledged?

I joined this site recently, thinking it might be a friendly place to chat to other mums, but how wrong I was- I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall. All my posts are totally ignored. Do newbies not warrant any acknowledgement?

OP posts:
peanutbear · 03/03/2008 19:50

So are all mine and I have been here for 4 years or more dont worry about it I still dont know anyone really but its still great fun reading what some of them has to say!!!

Tutter · 03/03/2008 19:51

oh good lord i've been here ages and am ignored loads

you haven#'t started any bthreads other than this have you?

so in effect you've contributed to other proples questions/comments

so, why would you expect people to sinbgloe you out in their posts

how very self-centred

wel;come, we're all lovely here

lol

ShinyDysonHereICome · 03/03/2008 19:51

I've just checked and people have actually responded to your posts PetLamb so I'm not quite sure what more you were hoping for?

rantinghousewife · 03/03/2008 19:51

9 POSTS! Jaysus, I had to do about 50 a day before someone asked me how I am. Sheesh

pralinegirl · 03/03/2008 19:52

pretend to be a childminder who is amazed at why parents don't always pick their little darlings up early! It worked very well last week - except for her who is probably with an empty house this week!

PABLOP · 03/03/2008 19:52

aawh PetLamb, I felt like that at first. Agree with Maidamess, don't always get acknowledged in the middle of an existing thread. Try starting a new one chat.
"Does anyone else fancy Ian Beale?"
bet you'd get a reply to that. No seriously I have started a few threads when I needed some help and got some useful advice.

Mercy · 03/03/2008 19:53

And now you're ignoring us.

toomanydaves · 03/03/2008 19:53

yes.

nickytwotimes · 03/03/2008 19:53

aye, people frequently ignore me. There's a special threadkiller support thread now, you know.
petlamb, why haven't yo uresonded yet?

SugarSkyHigh · 03/03/2008 19:53

AHEM petlamb you have not responded to my post yet,
i'm upset

stepfordwife · 03/03/2008 19:55

blimey, petlamb, suddenly being ignored sounds a better option, eh?

don't worry, i get ignored most of the time, too.anything new appears a bit cliquey, doesn't it/ it's only because posters 'know" each other.

don't take it personally..it's not RL..(whatever that is..)

mind you, MMJ sticks in my mind for acknowleding some of my early posts. thankyou! (fawn, fawn)...did you ever find your wedding ring, btw?

FAQ · 03/03/2008 19:55

my posts are often ignored or commented on by only one or two people..........and that's the threads I actually start (ones that I post in the middle of debate forget it ).

It is a VERY fast moving board. As an example of just how busy it is - I have active conversations open in another window, with the last 100 threads that have been posted on. I don't "hide" any threads/topics so they're all there on view....

Last post on the 100th thread was at 19.42, last post on the top thread was at 19.54. Even if there was only one post on each thread in that time it would mean 100 posts in 12 minutes........but more realistically it's probably 100's of posts in that time! So very easy for comments to get "missed" and people to feel "ignored"

Maidamess · 03/03/2008 19:56

See, I've been referred to twice in this thread already! Must be my lucky day!!

oh go dwe get these threads evey so often
a good way to make yourself popular

LardyMardyDaisyBoo · 03/03/2008 19:58

yes and no, for all the reasons listed below.

Welcome to MN

I've been here for over two years and still get ignored A LOT. I just keep bumping until someone sees it, which can take a while if the boards are busy. I kill a lot of threads too if my Threads I'm On is anything to go by.

roll up your sleeves, park your ego in the corner and wade right in

Saturn74 · 03/03/2008 19:59

Flounced already?
Surely not!

Welcome to MN, PetLamb.

stepfordwife · 03/03/2008 19:59

shame, MMJ

WanderingTrolley · 03/03/2008 20:00

PetLamb.

When you join mn, you have to search very carefully for the 'rhino skin' button and click on the 'Oh dear God yes' option.

rantinghousewife · 03/03/2008 20:01

Rhino skin button, that's what that callous like thing on my buttock is.

pralinegirl · 03/03/2008 20:01

The one about vibrators got lots of responses too.... Sales at Ann Summers probably rocketed, although after one post, thefts from catholic churches probably also rocketed if she meant what I thought - just be provocative!

Maidamess · 03/03/2008 20:05

LOL, HOORAY FOR MEEEEEE!!!!

rantinghousewife · 03/03/2008 20:07

pablob, there's a song in there somewhere, 'I'm a thread killer, thread killeeeerr'
