Just that really
how much do you pay and for how many hours ?

We pay £29 a day in Belfast from 3 to 5:45 with a snack provided and not a meal.

It is operated out of the school by a private company.

When looking at other local options they are around a similar price (£25+).

Bagrattle · 12/09/2023 11:21

This has been an incredibly depressing thread to read.

Sugarfree23 · 12/09/2023 11:24

@Bagrattle £29 a day - that's wild!

Unless they have some serious overheads, own their own premises or something, someone is making a mint out of that!

Batatahara · 12/09/2023 11:24

@Bagrattle I have had the sense from a few Irish acquaintances that there are more SAHMs and more grandparents helping in Ireland - do you think this leads to higher childcare costs as demand is less?

MarathonBarbie · 12/09/2023 11:27

Before school club is £4 for 750-845
After school club is £8 315-5, or £11 315-6

Both include small snack, East Anglia

BangingOn · 12/09/2023 11:27

15:45 - 18:00 and costs £4.75 per hour or part hour. Includes a hot tea.

Before school runs from 7:45 and is free but doesn’t include breakfast.

Stickortwister · 12/09/2023 11:27

Breakfast club £1. 8 - 8:30 includes breakfast.
After school club £2. 3:30 to 4:30.

Used to be free and I'm aware it's a bargain.
Undersubscribed tiny school in rural Suffolk.

Micemice · 12/09/2023 11:29

@Bagrattle snap- Belfast , NI. £30 a day 2:45/50 to 6pm max. Include light snack. Run externally to the school a few mins away. Other local options(2 ) also same price. Genuinely never realised how much we were being ripped off in comparison to other areas ( including London!)

Bagrattle · 12/09/2023 11:35

@Batatahara Might be a factor but I certainly think that more and more people need it in Belfast. I think there is a waiting list for the place we are in as well as other local ones.

When we lived in Leeds we paid £15 a day total for breakfast club and after school.

Flev · 12/09/2023 11:35

3.25pm-4pm is free, then £2.50 per half hour up to 6pm latest - so could potentially be £10 per day if you need up to 6pm. They get a snack if they're there after 4-30pm.

Amrythings · 12/09/2023 11:35

Part of it for Belfast is that we lost a lot of nurseries over the last few years, so they're all rammed to the gills and struggling to keep the lights on.

Mine is £29 per day too, but they pick up, feed them and do homework.

School one would be £15 but they stop dead on 5 so it's no good for me.

(ETA: and in Belfast in particular there are so many more people who don't have family close enough/retired enough to help. Our parents are both 45 minutes away, and plenty of people don't have any family here at all)

Bagrattle · 12/09/2023 11:36

@Micemice must be the inflated wages paid here...

Micemice · 12/09/2023 12:00

@Bagrattle haha yes I wouldn’t mind as much if the prices were going on staff wages but I’d highly highly doubt it as they are minimum wage I think from adverts I’ve seen from the company.
Agree with you point about family and also the supply/ demand situation.

spitefulandbadgrammar · 12/09/2023 12:17

£9 to 5.15. I would murder for a 5.30 finish, let alone 6

afrikat · 12/09/2023 12:25

£6 from 3.30 to 4.45. £12 from 3.30 to 6
Midlands
