Annoying dancing queen

I live with my soon to be ex, and he has a habit of drinking alone and then dancing for hours by himself to loud music with a very repetitive base. It probably happens every two months, so not loads, but it really pisses me off!!

He has the day off tomorrow, so has drunk 2 cans of beer, a bottle of Retsina, and is currently making his way through a box of red wine. All by himself. He drinks a couple of glasses of wine aline almost everyday.

He started his loud music routine this evening playing some dance music, and doing some horribly uncoordinated dancing whilst grinning like an idiot.

I have asked if he can listen to it on his headphones, he can’t. Music is supposed to be listened out loud apparently. I asked if he wants to go out to a bar or club to enjoy some loud music, no. I asked if he could turn it off by 10pm, he said ‘let me do what I
want’. I have a presentation at work tomorrow and really want to wind down and rest. Plus I don’t want to disturb the neighbours.

AIBU unreasonable to ask him to turn it off so I can have a peaceful Sunday evening?

Turn off the electricity.

He's drunk two cans of beer, a bottle of retsina and half a wine box on his own?

Never mind the music I'd be seriously worried about sharing a home with someone who drinks like this. I assume this is a factor in your split?

It also sounds as if he's doing it on purpose to piss you off. You're clearly well rid.

Slightly disappointed this isn’t an ABBA thread.

definitely! He tries to convince me that drinking that much is normal. He says he is not getting any sex and his life is not progressing as he wants. So Retsina and dancing it is!

Very excited for him to dance out of my life!💃

Is he streaming the music, can you kill the wi-fi?

SisterMichaelsHabit · 10/09/2023 22:28

Good for you for recognising that this situation is untenable and making plans to move on. Hopefully it will be over soon. Are you waiting for him to move out or for you to move out? I am just wondering if he needs a bit more of a nudge towards the door if he's the one who's supposed to be going. It sounds like he's far too comfortable here (and utterly inconsiderate).

Stompythedinosaur · 10/09/2023 22:28

Jesus, what a loser.

We rent a place together and are on a rolling one month contract. The plan is to break up tomorrow, give notice, and move out ASAP.

When I walked into the dancing room to get to the toilet, he was mid-way through lifting a leg onto the dinning table. When I asked him what he was doing, he looked embarrassed and said he was lifting up his leg to ‘do a big fart’. He is 36! What is going on???

I can't imagine why you no longer fancy him!

Saffie980 · 10/09/2023 22:39

Just to clarify- he was lifting his foot on to the dinning table so he could do a big fart, for fun. I’m definitely questioning my life choices.

Gross.

He's a drunk, a loser and a disgusting pig.

Why haven't you left him or kicked him out?

What do neighbours think about the loud music?

What was the attraction to this lowlife in the first place?

10HailMarys · 10/09/2023 23:24

Does he know he’s about to become your ex? Because if not, I’d be telling him right about now.

OrigamiOwls · 10/09/2023 23:26

Does he know you're breaking up tomorrow?

If so I suspect he's going out of his way to make bring in the same property uncomfortable for you.

MariePaperRoses · 10/09/2023 23:30

Have you turned the music off now that it's late?
