Working in Riyadh

I've considering applying for a job in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

My friend went to work there first, and she told me about a position that is in her company.

Part of me thinks it would be nice to go and try something very different for a year. But it is very hard to know what it would actually be like until I get there.

Has anyone worked in Riyadh. What is it like?

Saudi Arabia is a very safe country the expats living in compounds which can be like holiday resorts at the top end and a bit more basic at all the bottom end. It is a shoppers paradise and the people on the whole are reserved but friendly. It is a good opportunity to get the money up over a few years. The Brits are generally in the north east of the city which is some way from the city centre.

It will cost you anywhere between £35-45k to live out there comfortably. That includes compound accommodations, regular flights home, hire car, fuel, food and expenses. So unless you are a hire earner I would not bother. It’s tax free mind
