To find the garden really boring

Just that really! I have a lovely garden. At the moment it had a paddling pool and water table. A slide and trampoline. Shed full of toys. Thought I had been out here with DS almost an hour. Looked at the time. It had been 22 minutes.

Why is it any more boring than the house? is it because you are usually doing jobs while DC plays in the house?

Read a book.

I agree.

In the house DS can play by himself whereas in the garden he wants me to watch him do tricks or join in with everything. Sometimes I just want to sit down!

DS is 17 months. That's not really an option.

Is your garden safe for your DS? If so, can't you sit on a chair and just watch?

I used to position myself in a deck chair next to the paddling-pool with a stack of plastic stuff (cups, plates, balls) and just chuck stuff in whenever DC1 came over and wanted to play. They'd take over the game and I'd go back to reading my book.
