To wonder why the National Trust have addressed mail to my husband?

I have just signed up for a joint National Trust membership. I entered my details first as the lead member. The subscription is coming out of my own bank account.

I have received a welcome email and temporary membership cards.

The email opens addressing my husband first: “Hello Mr Smith and Dr Smith.” His is the first name on the membership cards.

AIBU to be disgruntled that they have defaulted to male first, even when I’m the one paying the bills?!

(And they can’t even say that they’re following convention, because convention would be Dr first anyway!)

Humph.

Our council tax is the same.

My details first on all contact forms and my bank account the money comes out of.

They switch it round on every letter!

Even before we were married when my name came first alphabetically they still did it!

I’m lead on ours, it’s always me first, same with RSPB.

I wrote a thread about this, I own the house, the bills come from my account, I filled our all the forms and put me first. For all they know DP is a lodger, but his name comes first.

I had this when I was renting with a long term partner. I was the lead tenant and communication should’ve come through me. We split up and he moved out, yet they continued to contact him. When I gave notice they’d contact him about if a viewing was convenient!!! I emailed them repeatedly about it so they phoned him saying I was being arsey!

This was about fifteen years ago and it sounds like nothing has changed. It’s so wrong

This stuff drives me wild! When I sorted the sale of our house, purchase of a new house including all of the mortgage etc (the only thing dp did is sign a form) ALL of the documents were addressed to him. No-one had ever even spoken to him but had spent hours on the phone to me!
