Bloody daddy long legs

9th one tonight in the house, even the cat is bored of chasing them now.
What do they even do? Other than fly directly at my face.
With this and the house spiders and moths, am I unreasonable to fit window screens?
It's too hot for this shit.

Bumbling bastards.

What they do is lay eggs in your lawn and all the grubs eat the grass roots, ruining your garden so you have to spend money on nematodes to quell the population.

God I know - bloody loads of them.

Absolutely huge spider in the house last night.

This morning when I went to get in the car there were masses of spider webs stretched from the trees to my car and we walked into them by mistake - awful!!

Bentoforthehorde · 10/09/2023 00:38

One of the perks of marrying 6ft DH was that I very rarely now walk through a face full of cobweb, because he leaves before me!
They did get me when I was stripping leaves off the tomatoes today though. I have a lot of plants and it was like garden spider high rise apartments.
I hate the ones on the laundry too. I don't fear the laundry getting darked on, but I do if it gets webbed. Some pegs get left on the line and they belong to the spiders now.

We have them here too! They're attracted to the lamp in the living room which means they keep banging up against my head. 😬

We have roller midge screens , haven’t had an insect indoors for years , it’s bliss .

toomanyleggings · 10/09/2023 01:04

We’ve got daddy long leg corpses everywhere plus the live ones floating around. Horrendous

Mamai90 · 10/09/2023 01:20

Flying spiders they are!

MrsFezziwig · 10/09/2023 01:29

I’m generally live and let live with spiders, but there was such a huge one last night that he had to go. I eject them using the glass and piece of card method, but this one was so big that his legs only just fitted within the glass.

Safxxx · 10/09/2023 02:20

Window screens are good ideas would keep the pests away

TawnyLarue · 10/09/2023 02:51

It’s the fruit flies for me this year.

I went through every cupboard looking for the item (it’s always a fucking potato) that was attracting them but found nothing.

They are everywhere. I pour myself a glass of red wine and by the time I’ve carried the glass through to the living room there’s a drink/dead fruit fly floating in it.

Oysterbabe · 10/09/2023 07:04

God I hate them. They are just so chaotic and constantly come flailing towards you.

Bentoforthehorde · 10/09/2023 13:17

Ooh the rolling screens look great! Expensive though.
Fruit flies are a pain in the arse. We had a problem with them few years ago.
I used apple cider vinegar in jam jars with a blob of washing up liquid mixed in. Elastic band holding on a tin foil lid with hole in the middle. Worked a treat.

@Bentoforthehorde , we got ours from Newblinds and my husband fitted them , they weren’t that expensive and they are one of the nicest companies I’ve ever dealt with . We have a magnetic screen on the French doors .
