stressed about work outfit?

I am posting for traffic (my S&B thread didn’t get much interest)

I’m attending a senior corporate work event Monday and Tuesday and need heat-appropriate yet smart clothing. Worried about drenching whatever I wear in sweat in the first 5 minutes - it’s 2 days of meetings. Any advice of outfit choices? I can go shops today/tomorrow and potentially order something for the Tuesday at least. I’ve recently lost weight and my current wardrobe doesn’t really work. I’m also really short

Cropped linens trousers. When you're short they great as ankle grazers. And you may find a linen jacket in the sales.

The weather is meant to drastically reduce in temp from Monday onwards.

Are you sure your offices won't have aircon? Regardless, a sleeveless and light cotton or linen dress would be good.

TheFlis12345 · 09/09/2023 12:42

Where is the event? If it’s inside there will probably be air con?

ChristmasLightsLover · 09/09/2023 12:42

Seasalt linen dress. Boden summer stuff put together can be smart. A naice dress?
John Lewis had lots on sale today.

dresses this weather - but yesterday I was cold in the office because of the aircon, but melting in the evening - open air theatre.

wavws · 09/09/2023 12:54

I’ve checked the weather and it’s 28 degrees Monday and 26 degrees Tuesday. It’s at an office that sometimes has the heating on during summer or the aircon is constantly out of service

I would go for a cotton dress, linen creases so easily, it never looks smart for long!

BingoandBlueyForever · 09/09/2023 14:15

Thin cotton, linen mix (it doesn’t crease so badly when mixed with vicose) or a thin airy viscose. Or silk if you have the budget. Small patterns are much more forgiving to sweat than block colours. I’d go for a shirtdress over trousers and top because you get more airflow, but wide leg trousers can work well too.

Thanks everyone. I am leaning towards a jumpsuit tomorrow and a cream dress the day after. Also bought a new blazer which should hopefully get some action, but it’s still boiling here! I know the temperatures will drop but I reckon my nerves will have me sweating 😂

Linen always tends to crease on me
