Bedbugs

We’ve just come back from a stay at husbands brothers, they had bedbugs but got rid of them so we thought it was safe. However I’ve just woken up and seen this crawling on my bed. Please tell me it isn’t a bed bug 😭😭 it’s reddy brown in colour

That does look like a bed bug.

Did you catch it? Catch it in some sellotape so you can identify it in detail.

How long ago did you get back? Have you fully unpacked?

Bedbug I am afraid

Keylani · 09/09/2023 04:54

Yes, sorry that’s a bed bug. Hopefully it’s just the one that has managed to travel back with you, in which case you should be ok if you managed to catch it.

😩😩😩 yes I have unpacked everything but the suitcase was sitting opened on my bed for a good few days as I was doing it gradually. I’ve seen other signs now on my bed as I’ve been looking, the poo, the casing etc. it’s unlikely to be just one now isn’t it 😭

Yeah that looks like one. A adult one of that. Book a house spray in and start hoovering every tiny corner, crack, seam you can find. Get on top of it asap x

I’ve just tipped my bedroom upside down my bed mattress cleared it all and there’s literally no sign of any bedbugs anywhere, even got the hairdryer out to see if they’d come out and still nothing 🤷🏻‍♀️ could it just be a stray that’s followed us home? X

Hi OP. It could be a stray that has managed to come home with you but if you have seen casings and brown spots on mattress, they are often tell tale signs and would mean you have had them longer than you may have realised. The best time to see them is usually between 2am and 5am. they are very good at hiding. Try and get a touch out between these times and look in the mattress seems and headboard. Good luck hopefully it will just be a stray one. If you can get some of this stuff x

Get the professionals in OP - don't mess atound trying to do it yourself or assuming it's only 1-after all, you didn't spot them at your DBI house.

ThreeLittleDots · 09/09/2023 09:23

Indorex everywhere

Aquamarine1029 · 09/09/2023 09:41

I hope you've gotten rid of that suitcase. I would not fuck around. Call in the professionals.

CranfordScones · 09/09/2023 09:44

They're not as bad as most people suppose. They don't spread disease and they're not a sign of an unclean house.

The most common way to acquire them is on luggage, especially when it's been sitting in the airport baggage area or in the aircraft hold with everyone else's. Make it a habit to vacuum your luggage when you get home. Just vacuum all the crevices in your bed and bedroom. That's where they live. Then use bedbug spray or Indorex.
