Peeing in public

Just after some advice really.

In the new days of being toilet trained, what did you do if they needed to pee no where near a loo?

Finished school, I checked if they needed a wee. They said no. Teacher confirmed they'd not long been. Great. Literally 5 minutes from school, twin 2 needed a wee. And it was a big one. I then checked twin 1 and he wanted one too. Had to do it up a wall on the residential street.

Getting them back to school, getting someone in reception to let us in etc would have taken 10 minutes. The nearest shop with a loo is probably 15 minutes away. We didn't get home for at least 30 minutes.

What am I meant to do cos obv this isn't ideal but neither is walking home dripping pee as they wet themselves

For context, they've been out of nappies since last Wednesday so just over a week. It's a mile home but taking us 40-80 minutes. We've stopped at the local shop for a wee but we're too far from it today

It is not ideal but it is no different to a dog peeing against a wall. Sounds like you had no choice OP.

cocksstrideintheevening · 08/09/2023 17:27

Get a wagon for the stuff.
Don't encourage your kids to piss on walls.

AuntMarch · 08/09/2023 17:27

"No buggy, they're 3"... but its also taking 40-80 minutes to walk a mille!

I lugged a travel potty around for ages to make sure they could go when needed. And we always had a rule of having a wee before we leave the house. But with all that said, if I see a small child having a wee in a less than ideal place it’s obvious what’s going on and we’ve all been there so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Thanks you.
I did check wee before we left and teacher said yes they'd gone.

I think the bottle idea is going to be the answer.

Oh and Dts were in a buggy until they started school. Well they weren't in it but we used it to cart shit around. They were adjusted 3.11 when they started.

They peed on someone’s wall? That’s disgusting, please don’t let them do that again. You take a potty out with you and they pee in that, or worst case they pee on a grass verge or field (not someone’s garden).

Not all walls belong to people. There was no marching them up to someone's house and demanding they pee up it

OP posts:
Balloonhearts · 08/09/2023 17:29

I'd let them go in a drain or on the grass but not on someone's wall, that's disgusting and so disrespectful. I'd hose you if I caught you doing that on my property. Not the child as he clearly isn't being taught any better but I'd hose the parent.

ManateeFair · 08/09/2023 17:29

Your kids are at school and only just out of nappies?! Do you mean nursery/pre-school?

Do not let your child piss up against a wall ffs and don't keep asking the local shop if your kids can use their toilet. If they really can't make it home without a wee, get them to go over a drain or something. Pissing up a wall is disgusting and will also very quickly stink, especially in this weather.

Noorandapples · 08/09/2023 17:29

Mine took a long time to be able to hold it, I insisted he went for a wee in the school toilet after school every day for years. Teachers may not like it but it's for the kids benefit, nobody likes feeling desperate to go.

OneForTheRoadThen · 08/09/2023 17:29

We had one of these. Really small and easy to carry.

That's perfect, I'm going to find a quicker delivery one of I can and get two.

It wasn't someone's wall. No child has been made to wee up someone's house. Not all walls and house and gardens.

An 80 minute walk is a very long trek for small people who have just started school and are barely toilet-trained. It might be worth bringing the buggy for another few weeks until everyone settles down a bit. Plus, you can stash the O2 cylinder and potty underneath it.

Blackblueandgold · 08/09/2023 17:32

How are they at school if they're only 3?
40-80 minutes is a very long time to walk a mile. Could you get them scooters or something like that to speed up getting home?

ExtraOnions · 08/09/2023 17:33

I’m the 70s we used to pee down the grid …

It doesn't make any difference whether it belonged to a resident. It's still a public space that people have to walk past and which people lean against or sit on or whatever.

Piss isn't somehow acceptable just because it emerges from a child. If an adult was caught short and pissing up walls in residential spaces people would rightly think it was dirty and gross, so I'm not sure why people think it's OK just because it's a child. Their wee is made out of exactly the same stuff, you know.

We used to find a tree to hide behind (sometimes a street tree, sometimes grassland tree - never ever a tree someone other than the council owned), or a drain. Or I would take them to the nearest shop/cafe that had a toilet and buy something to justify it!

Wall was a council wall. I may have fewer accusations of being a skank of I'd mentioned that.

Yesterday we made it to the shop. We just buy a drink on the way out and it's fine
Today we'd have had two accidents if I'd tried to get them that far.

Pee bottle it is.

Just a plastic tub you can empty down the drain would be fine.

Please don't let them pee up someone's house/wall - that's really grim.

It wasn't a house or garden wall.

I didn't forsee the event so didn't have anything on me.

Pop bottle until pee bottle comes is the answer tho.

Buggy at age 3 is perfectly acceptable and indeed sensible if the walk is taking that long and you have all that stuff to carry. Assume there are medical needs too as you mention oxygen cylinder. Why wouldn’t you use a buggy?

ToddlerIs2 · 08/09/2023 17:36

ThickSkinnedSoWhat · 08/09/2023 17:22

This. Its not really a great way of teaching them that this isn't acceptable everyday behaviour. I would far rather somebody knocked my door and asked if their child could use my toilet than using my side wall as a lavatory.

No body peed up anyone's house.

Not all walls belong to people.

You insist on going to the loo before you leave anywhere.

I never carried a potty with me. And I never seen anyone do that. Not a thing where I live.

Sorry was more of a they're 3 and will no longer countenance such things rather than a judgement.

Medical needs is older sibling so that's not an issue

Of course it is 😂You’ve just not noticed it.

Those walls belong to someone, and people sometimes sit on them. You don't piss on walls.

Well the council not someone's house and they can't pee high enough to get ot where you sit unless you sit on the pavement floor.inwhich case you're probably sat in worse.
