I’ve cross posted in parenting. We booked butlins Bognor hotel for my 4 and 2 year old and I’ve just been googling and the Skegness and minehead ones have just had horrible horrible things come up of late, fleas, faeces in the bed the list goes on

anyone been to the Bognor hotel and done premium dining? What’s it like? Are the activities ok or should we cancel?

trip advisor is 4 stars but for hols aboard I normally won’t go below 4.5 but figured because it’s butlins it should be ok? Am I wrong, im panicking a bit now

Butlins is great for kids. No experience of Bognor but lots of visits to Minehead, even now for adult weekends. Lots of friends go to Minehead and none of them have experienced anything like those sort of reviews

I have been to Skegness. I was expecting it to be far worse than it was, even brought my own bedding as can't bare to sleep in dirty sheets. The bedding was immaculate and really comfy and clean. The apartment was clean altho furniture a little tired. Think old travelodge kind of style.

I didn't think much too food, mainly overpriced mass cooked fast food. I would cook in apartment if that's the type you have booked.

The shows were very good, peppa pig, pj masks etc. The swimming was really good, again changing areas a bit tired. Kids loved the play areas and fairs and arcades.

Star ratings for hotel are based on what facilities they provide - not an independent inspector determining 'quality'

Tripadvisor can be helpful but most people they give 5 stars if the experience meets expectations, not if it is objectively a 5 star experience, so take with a pinch of salt

I enjoyed the Butlins Bognor hotel, out of interest how is it helpful to look
at reviews of the other Butlins?

But you're not going to Skegness or minehead, their review has no impact on where you are going.

It’s not about that specific review of that specific resort more is like general cleanliness an issue with butlins. Plus trip advisor reviews seem positive and then there’s a handful that says the rooms are awful, mould and one even said before bugs which before I thought oh that’s only one, should be ok… BUT on the back of what I’ve read in the news lately, I’m worrying
