Wallpapering - llama's feet. Aibu?

Employed a professional decorator to hang this cute llama wallpaper in my loo, but when he'd gone and I was sitting "on the throne" I noticed he'd hung it in such a way that the top line where the wall meets the ceiling is a line of disembodied feet.

Aibu to think he should have cut the paper so that the top line depicts whole llamas?

So sorry OP. I paid someone to make me curtains with a pelmet, I had to buy a lot more fabric because of the 'repeat'.

It was a bird pattern and when the person came round to put them up I couldn't believe it, the pelmet began with a 'beheaded bird'. I'd bought another six metres, I thought the pelmet would start with the whole bird.

ActDottie · 07/09/2023 21:37

Tbh I didn’t even notice until you said I think it looks fine

Tabitha1960 · 07/09/2023 22:42

'the pelmet began with a 'beheaded bird"'

Sorry but that literally made me laugh out loud!

Don't you feel...watched? All those llama eyes...
But yes, coving would solve the problem. But I can also see a rather prominent seam.
My niece is a professional decorator/interior designer and often installs those huge mural wallpaper walls, she'd throw a wobbly at a visible seam.

ItSoundsLikeADrag · 07/09/2023 23:01

That very visible seam is more noticeable than the feet tbh.

I need to see the bottom, are the llamas walking along the floor?

Oh!

Sorry then but I think it's a poor job. I would have started on the bottom and had them walking along the bottom which would have risked feet at the top, but as they haven't done that they should definitely have started with a whole llama at the top.

ThinWomansBrain · 07/09/2023 23:18

I prefer Alpacas

Sidslaw · 07/09/2023 23:20

I love the wall paper, and agree with covering the top edge

SpringIntoChaos · 07/09/2023 23:20

But...surely that was just the top of the roll when he first unrolled it? So that was where he started I'm guessing 🤷‍♀️ I'm mean...yeah, I'd have sliced that first top bit off, but as a bloke he probably just didn't think about the 'foot aesthetics' 🤷‍♀️🤣

Bloody fantastic paper 🙌🏼

Chenford · 07/09/2023 23:21

I can’t work out if that would bug me, or if it’s better to have half a llama top and bottom rather than a headless or footless llama at one end (given there isn’t enough room for another full llama)

ThinWomansBrain · 07/09/2023 23:21

And alpacas are shorter than llamas, so you wouldn't have had the same problem😁

Yes, I see it now. Had he planned to have a line of whole llamas along the dado then he would also have had whole llamas at the top and not just legs.

If I buy another roll could I just wallpaper over it?

It would be easy enough to strip off and start again if you really wanted to, I think I'd just live with it though

Choux · 07/09/2023 23:30

Now I have seen the dado part I think he has actually been quite mathematical and has made sure the 4 or 5 llamas in each vertical row are spaced evenly between the top of the dado and the ceiling. But this has resulted in small parts of llamas at the top and bottom.

He should really have discussed the spacing with you before starting as the options were:
Evenly spaced llamas as he has done
Llamas walking along the dado rail. Nice idea but would have left headless llamas at the top.
Whole llamas at the top but that would have given footless llamas on the dado rail

None of these options are perfect. If you are a perfectionist you should have lowered the dado rail by a few inches so each drop had full llamas only.

But op has ended up with both, and that is annoying especially as it is lovely paper.

Yes OP, I'd probably buy some more paper but I'm sure most people wouldn't.

Worse that it is a professional, it only needed a seconds thought and it would have been great.

a sentence I wouldn't have thought the world had use for 😂

Tessisme · 07/09/2023 23:41

That is such fun wallpaper! I love it. I wouldn't care about the legs dangling from the top, but I know for a fact that DP would not be able to cope with that. I'm slightly more concerned about the decapitated llamas at the bottom, but I could live with it!

thinkfast · 07/09/2023 23:42

Is that wallpaper or wrapping paper?

Regardless he's done a bad job. Dreadful seam in the middle and lama parts at top and bottom....

Hatesf1 · 07/09/2023 23:45

What possessed you?

Aliceinunderland · 07/09/2023 23:51

Llamageddon

Love the wallpaper though

I think he's more a llamateur
