Marketplace scam?

Not sure where to post this so just put it in here.

I have a couple of things up on Facebook marketplace for sale. I was contacted by a couple of people asking me if I could send the item to them and they would cover postage.

I gave them my bank details for a transfer (figured there's maybe not much they can do with my sort code and account number except pay into my bank)

They have paid money in to my bank. I'm still a bit worried this is some kind of scam but I'm not sure what would happen now?

I've received their payment in my bank. If I send the item to their address will they somehow cancel the payment? Or will they get my details from the postage (somehow check the tracking and see where the package came from?)

I'm not sure. Just wanted to check if this is some kind of a scam or if this person might be genuine. There isn't a lot on their profile so it doesn't look particularly'normal' they are giving off scammer vibes but I might just be paranoid and overly cautious

If they've paid into your bank account they can't reverse it. The marketplace scam is to use PayPal and do a charge back after receiving the item.

@SleepingisanArt - thanks for replying. Thats reassuring. I didn't know if they could somehow report the payment to their bank as a mistake or something.

Im obviously just being a bit paranoid. You hear all these stories about scammers. Usually they ask to send a courier to your house to collect the parcel but I wasn't sure if this was some kind of new scam

It's really hard, isn't it? So many scams.

If the money is with you, they are not scammers. Send the thing to wherever they ask you but save a copy of the marketplace ad.

In the future, just add to your marketplace item description “collection only, you are welcome to check the item well when you collect as due to previoua scammers I do not offer refunds”

I would only have reservations about this if it's a significant sum of money, like hundreds or thousands.
