Weekend away South West Bristol / Bath?

Looking at a couple of nights away, just the two of us, possibly Bath or Bristol. Are there any hotels anyone would recommend? Or anywhere in the South West for a city break?

What’s AIBU about this? Confused

Not super fancy but still very nice is the Marriot on college green. Fantastic location in the middle of Bristol.

Or Moxy- cheaper and trendier. Right next to Cabot circus.

How spendy can you be? Bath has some real gems!

I would recommend Bath personally. Maybe it’s because I live in bristol but Bath is so cute, has the spa, the baths and great shopping.

Either of the Hotel du Vins are in good locations (City Centre or Clifton - Clifton possibly better location) but maybe more pricey

We went to Bath last summer and stayed at 95 Sydney Place near the Holbourne Museum. It was fabulous but expensive. It's where they filmed the 1995 production of Persuasion. Stayed for two nights and had a fabulous time. The museum is well worth a visit, and be sure to prebook tickets to the baths as they sell out. Just wandering around was lovely.

If you have the budget for it the Gainsborough hotel in bath is lovely and it has its own spa to boot.

You could check Airbnbs prices close to the city with parking, in Bath I would look at north around Circus area and bit further out and it’s all walkable, in Bristol it’s much larger and you would have to identify what area would suit - ie Clifton is lovely but you could be a bit further away from central attractions.

If looking further afield Exeter or Cheltenham would also make a lovely weekend break both lovely cities.

If you’re in Bristol this weekend there’s an amazing country music festival with loads of activities for kids, and the whole family!

It’s at Almondsbury Creative, on Gloucester Road.

I love Bath, dh and I did a mini break recently and stayed in the Dorian B&B which is an easy walk into the city centre. Lovely room, tasty breakfast and a quiet area as it's tucked in away off the main road. We'd previously stayed at Abbey Rise which is a nice place but ruined by being on the main road into the city - needed ear plugs to sleep with traffic and sirens all night
