Making a big decision!

I need some help / encouragement/ advice!

Long held dream of mine and DH to move nearer my family and be nearer the coast and afford to buy a house. It’s never been the right time or I’ve been in a good job etc. DC love the place we would move to and ask to go there every weekend but they don’t want to leave their current school (primary).

A job has come up which would enable us to move to the coast, rent for a bit and then buy but now I’m worried that it’s the wrong choice and I will have removed my kids from their school where they have friends etc. I have become a bit frozen in fear!! Which I realise is ridiculous. I’m an adult but can’t seem to make this decision.

Can anyone give advice if you have made bigger decisions. I want to be brave and go for it but don’t want to ruin everyone’s happiness if it goes wrong!

Go for it. I moved to London from Wales when DS1 was 7, for a job. Just us. Sometimes in life kids do have to leave schools. This sounds like a no brainer to me. Good luck

Do it!

How old are the dcs?

blueshoes · 06/09/2023 22:29

I see they are primary school age. That's an ok age to move. If it allows you to be closer to family and buy afford a home, then now's the time

Go for it! Sounds like the pros outweigh the cons.

Good age. If you are going to move, now is the time.

Go for it OP.

Do it!
I moved to the coast from london 5 years ago with 2 primary aged DC.

We all love it here, they are now in fantastic high school and today on the hottest day of the year I swam 3 times to cool down.

Let good high schools be your guide to where you finally settle.

I think on paper it looks like the right choice. It’s the bravery to make that choice which is hard!

I’m a big fan of looking forward 10 years and seeing what you want your life to look like. What decisions do you need to make right now to make that happen?
