Coughing, heaving and burping

AIBU to think there is a new virus about. My family have all had this hideous cough for weeks, never heard of a cough before that makes you heave then burp, my son was up in the night with it I thought he was going to be sick it made him heave so much.

Anyone else had this? no snotty nose or sore throat or fever just a bad cough (not covid I tested)?
Is it a new thing?

Any tips for getting rid of it? cough medicine has made no difference.

I really have been wondering if one or more of the new variants produces a high rate of false negatives on covid tests.

Covid is definitely on the up (and proper surveillance testing is being re-introduced - which may or may not help establish how good the current LFTs are)

Just updating incase any one does a search for coughing heaving burping like I did before starting the thread.

Took youngest to the docs last night as his heaving turned into being sick. And they are treating him for whooping cough.
