I've not watched TM since Ruth & Eamon and was off sick today so flicking channels. At the start of the program, Alison jumped on Jason Donovan to the laughter of Holly who said she 'mounted him' It was gutter TV and very unprofessional. I wonder what the reaction would have been if the mounting was the other way round? Shockingly bad presenters.

You're not wrong about PS daughters at all - he was a founding shareholder in the talent agency. It's absolutely how they got the job (but it's also not beyond the realms of possibility that they had an aptitude for the industry - just like doctors are often the children of doctors).

However, HW husband has nothing to do with the decision making around her staying on TM. He wants and needs his company to get commissions across all the channels - he stays well out of that particular political hot potato.

One of his daughters has/had a blue tick on Instagram - presumably famous for being the daughter of Schofield. And she seemed to revel in being in expensive clubs, bars and restaurants.

It has all come home to roost.

CatAnnoyance · 06/09/2023 13:09

I irrationally dislike Holly so much and I don't know why. I used to love her as recently as when she stood in for Ant on I'm a Celeb and then I don't know, she just started really bloody annoying me, she was so false on TM with the silly giggles and dancing. Aaargh.

OhYetAnotherBrickInTheWall · 06/09/2023 13:20

It’s actually ‘Tracey Towerblock’. I’ve been in the room when it’s been said. It’s been the terminology for years.

Inkanta · 06/09/2023 16:44

My instinct is that her husband plays a part in her decision to stay on the show. She's not popular on there anymore and she looks stressed and thin. There must be healthier options. Who's looking out for her.

LadyBird1973 · 06/09/2023 17:42

Does she need looking out for?
She seems quite capable of looking out for her own best interests. And she's been on holiday for the whole summer break! I'd say she's doing okay.

I think people do tend to look a bit uncomfortable when their behaviour is being scrutinised

MoonshineandMagic · 06/09/2023 18:37

I’d say she was quite capable of looking out for herself, she comes across as hard as nails despite the fluttery girly shit. I’d feel more worried for anyone who got in the way of her career.

I wonder if you'll get deleted for saying that?

I agree. She is one of those irritating women who puts on the simpering dumb blonde act because she thinks that's the way to get ahead. What's wrong with being an intelligent, ambitious woman if that's what you are? She is totally fake.

Justleaveitblankthen · 06/09/2023 23:11

Yeah, she puts on an act all right.

Years ago, I remember her saying how confused she always gets when she sees the TV camera pointing at her is lit red (ie:She's in live shot) "Because at Traffic lights, well.. Red means stop doesn't it?" 😳
By this point, she had been presenting for Donkey's years - literally with Ant & Dec as very young men

It was such a blatant attempt to portray herself as Dozy that I was cringing for her.

Ugh and don't even mention the Gino D'acampo sex/food innuendos, cueing hysterical mirth from Pip and her.

Fake as fuck.

lollipoprainbow · 06/09/2023 23:54

Awful pairing, can't stand smug holly who threw Phil under the bus to save her own skin having previously told him when he came out that she would be by his side forever 🙄

Can't stand Alison's wheezy laughing over nothing much at all it's cringeworthy. She'll ruin gbbo.

Agree, I enjoyed watching it with Andi Peters, he's funny without trying too hard, and Rochelle was much better with him.

LadyBird1973 · 06/09/2023 08:47

I think they could rescue this show by bringing back Ruth and pairing her with someone like Rylan. They seem to have a genuine friendship and would be good together.
I like Alison but feel her talent was best utilised in interviewing celebrities because she really is so natural and adds a bit of life to the interview rounds that must be really boring for film stars, who may have talked to 10 people already before getting to the Alison interview.

Also like Rochelle. She does seem genuinely lovely. And Josie.

I've never understood the Phil and Holly appeal - they were so smug and forgot they were there to entertain us and not each other. Holly firmly hitched her wagon to Phil and having done so, can't convince the viewer that she was an innocent bystander. Her image is toxic now. But maybe she's just going to ride it out and hope for the best. Maybe she'd get away with that if she had a strong personality or something to offer that a million other presenters didn't have. To me, at best she's bland.

Ruth and rylan are the dream team!

lollipoprainbow · 07/09/2023 00:00

Craig Doyle was awful today constantly buttering her up telling her she looked great etc urgh!

Yes I thought that as well, and that was only from watching the last half hour!

MeinKraft · 07/09/2023 00:12

Holly is a simpering idiot and Alison is a bellowing fool. They can't seem to decide who will speak when so they just talk over the top of each other. If we absolutely must have Holly, she was far better paired with Dermot, but it seems Alison's having a moment so she must be thrust upon us.

wayyour · 07/09/2023 00:18

I disagree, he doesn't have to look uncomfortable or react in the "right" was for this to be unacceptable

Absolutely 👏🏻

mayorofcasterbridge · 07/09/2023 00:29

I haven't watched TM for years but from what I've seen from AH on other shows, her bellowing laugh is intensely irritating, and HW is much too sweet to be wholesome.

I almost but not quite feel sorry for PS. He had an affair. He's far from the only one. HW totally threw him under a bus after years of being his friend. That's a shit person.

FrostieBoabby · 07/09/2023 00:33

I can only watch Alison for 10 minutes then I get weary. I do think she's a lovely person underneath but comes across as fake bubbly which I find really off putting.

Never been fussy for Holly (or lazy Daily Mail "journalists" trawling MN for click bait) but I do love Andy Peters.

JanglingJack · 07/09/2023 00:35

They're trying to out perform each other. There's absolutely no chemistry it's awkward to watch. At least with Dermot, Alison seems a little more relaxed. This is just awful.

Sorry, I'm not sure which program we are discussing. Oxford House thing V Cambridge's House of Clever, University Challenge? Thought so.

Dermot and Alison. Blummin auto correct 🙄

TheLadyofShalott1 · 07/09/2023 02:07

I used to think that Holly was a stunningly beautiful version of the "girl next door".
I still think she is very beautiful, but I have realised since the PS fiasco that she is not the epitome of the sweet, innocent, naive and slightly giddy, girl next door, I thought her to be at all.

Instead she seems to be manipulative, condescending, disloyal, and apparently very selfish. I don't think that her attractive looks and crocodile smile will be able to save her from the chop for much longer...

TheLadyofShalott1 · 07/09/2023 02:37

As for Alison, I still think that she is a lovely, bubbly, person, and I want her to achieve great things, but unfortunately I can only listen and watch her for a few minutes at a time. She is just far too OTT for me.

I used to watch snippets of This Morning when it came from Albert Dock in Liverpool, when my children were young - when I got a chance to sit down for a cuppa, or I was dusting in the lounge! I used to like Richard"s and Judith's presenting style (although even then I found Richard to be a little bit too smug), and some of the "articles" in their show - I particularly used to love their Christmas Nativity Play and the live donkey 😁

I just can't stand todays childish and stupid antics and behaviours, which to my way of thinking belong on children's TV, not a supposedly adult 'magazine' programme. However, I am willing to accept that I am just a grumpy old woman these days, who maybe needs to be put out to pasture!

AuroraDawn68 · 07/09/2023 03:02

So a Repeat show that's been edited down to fit 40/45 mins on screen won over a live show. That's so funny - or I think so anyway. Don't get me wrong, I love The Repair Shop and they deserve every award they receive.

AuroraDawn68 · 07/09/2023 03:09

There's a repeat clips show that airs before Pointless. Shares the time slot with Bidding Room. Or it has in the past. Haven't watched TV in almost a month so don't know if it's on now or not.

I shall never understand Holly Willoughby’s success. I find her intensely irritating and really nothing special.

It's not what you know but who you know and her husband has his own production company so I feel that has a big part as well as schofield demanding he had her as his co presenter too
