To Put My Last Bottle of Anne French on Ebay

TheShellBeach · 05/09/2023 14:05

Anne French cleansing milk isn't made any more. I am very disappointed about this because there is nothing available now which is anything like it.

Anyway, in my search for the last few remaining bottles on the planet I discovered some on Ebay which were going for £40.

I have one bottle left in my cupboard. AIBU to wait until there are no bottles left at all apart from mine, and then stick it on Ebay and make my fortune?

Yes, do it. I had a stash of Corn Silk face powder that suddenly vanished from the market. I put them on eBay and they sold for 4x the price.
Wait til the last one sells then put yours on

Laiste · 05/09/2023 14:08

YANBU lol

But - are they actually selling for that much?

Lots of stuff on ebay is put up a stupidly high price which gets your hopes up, but no one's buying.
(i may or may not have loads of TY Beanies put a way for our fortune one day)

£40 a pop at the moment.

There are fewer and fewer being put on.

The bidding tends to start at about £12 then goes madly up and up.

Oh wow - I loved Corn Silk as well!

Actually, if I wait long enough, and end up with the only bottle in the world, I could ask Sotheby's to auction it.

How much did you pay out of curiosity

jallopeno · 05/09/2023 14:22

Is this a stealth ad for your ebay listing 😄 🤣

Waitrose did a nice and very cheap cleansing milk but they’ve only gone and bloody discontinued it Angry

ManchesterLu · 05/09/2023 14:52

Definitely do it! Me and DP run a buying and selling business and often purchase lego sets, then sit on them until they're retired. There's lots of money in that kind of thing.

HidingMyGratitude · 05/09/2023 14:59

I did this with a big box of Vitapointe conditioners. Each 50ml tube sold for £30 each.

I had people messaging me asking why I was selling it for £30 when it was £2 in the shop. Except they weren’t, they are sold
out!

BasicPumpkinSpice · 05/09/2023 15:03

You can check ended auctions on the search function. TBH there are a ton of discontinued bath/body/makeup/hygiene stuff that goes for £££ on eBay. It's probably worth double checking if you ever do a clear out. I've found old tooth paste that was going for £25

I have boxes and boxes of original Pears soap. The proper stuff, not the completely different recipe from around 2009. They go for around £39 each.

Oh my days the original was the best! I wouldn't personally do the £39 for it but I do miss it! I got the newer one about 5 years ago thinking it would be at least similar it was not!

Originally it was £19.99 for six bottles on Amazon (in 2021).

Doesn’t it go off though? How old is it?

TheShellBeach · 05/09/2023 15:31

Another thing which is impossible to find at an acceptable price is original Johnson's baby soap.

My friend used to use Anne French in the 80s. I absolutely hated the smell of it. I didn’t realise it was no longer made.

Come back and let us know if you made your fortune 🤣

Well I'm currently using one of the bottles from the 2021 batch and it's fine.

It's the very last bottle, which is in my cupboard, that I'm (jokingly) thinking of sticking on Ebay.

I buy some if you're selling any! Genuinely

Ohhhh, I thought it was a lot older for some reason. Makes sense then. I remember from teenage years but it was too harsh for my, ridiculously sensitive, skin. I did love Corn Silk though.

TheShellBeach · 13/09/2023 13:59

Okay, the latest bottle on Ebay of Anne French went for £68.00

I am going to put mine on soon - when there isn't another one on there.

Go for it. I can’t see why people get worked up about this kind of thing. No body is forced to buy it. Supply and demand innit.

TheShellBeach · 13/09/2023 14:03

Exactly!

I paid less than two quid for it. Might as well make a killing.
