Tooth ache

During the middle of June I suffered with the worst toothache I've ever had in my life, went to the dentist who said it was an infection and I needed a root canal...

My dentist ended up breaking her shoulder before I was due the treatment so has been postponed until mid October.

My dilemma is, my tooth ache has vanished, it's like it never happened and has been like this for around a month now so AIBU to think there's no point having a root canal? I'm just really worried it will come back to bite me later on down the line 🙈

I hate the dentist so really don't want to sit through a root canal over various appointments if I don't need to!

It will come back at some point

You may find the tooth becomes loose as the roots have deteriorated, they fix the tooth back into the jaw with the root canal as well as fixing the infection etc.

Talking from experience, it will come back and it will come back with a vengeance OP

@plumtreebroke root canal doesn’t fix a tooth into the jaw.

but it does clean out infected tissue and is your only option (except for extraction) if you want to try and save an infected tooth.

OP, it will come back as tooth infections never go away completely. I would recommend having treatment while the tooth is settled. Raging toothache can affect how well anaesthetic is absorbed/works.
