False widow in bedroom

I saw what I believe to be a false widow in my bedroom on the curtain. Now it’s gone missing. I’m scared it will climb into the bed and bite. Aibu to be worried?

Just leave it alone and it will leave you alone.

Even if it goes bite you, it's generally no worse than a bee sting. And only a problem if you happen to be allergic to spider bites.

Make a terrible racket all around your bed and swoosh something swooshable around on the floor. Just make the area around your bed as unpleasant for a spider to be near as possible and really scare it the heck off. You don’t need to do this, it’s already long gone, but it might make you feel better.

Do you have any lavender spray/oil? Apparently spiders don't like the smell so I'd spray that all around the room. (And it'll help you sleep!)

Burn the house down, it's the only answer!

Berryblondie1 · 04/09/2023 22:55

Sleep on the settee tonight then fumigate the bedroom tomorrow 👍

I’m really surprised no one has given the official Mumsnet answer yet.

Burn the house down

Russooooo · 04/09/2023 23:02

Oh. Sorry @Jelly0naplate I can see you beat me to it. Phew. All is normal in MumsnetWorld!

Lavender bath bubbles/oil? Have a bath in a lavender smelling soap so it doesn’t like the smell of you and I’d assume it’d keep away.

Hire a spider killing cat.
