To stay in pj's and do nothing

Have been out daily for the last 2 weeks as myself and DH have been on AL and kids off school.

Some days where meeting friends, some days going for walks (even in the rain) and some days out to parks, adventure places.

Back at work next week with some 12 hour days and kids back to school.

I feel so tired today and really unmotivated, I'm still in PJs and pottering to tidy alongside reading abook, DH is pottering and DD is going between TV and playing in the garden.

I really feel with how nice the weather is I should be up and doing something, but I really can't be bothered, and then get annoyed at myself that I'm missing out on the sunshine.

AIBU for not getting dressed and going out with the family.

AINBU and sometimes everyone deserves a wind down day including children, there will be more sunny days.

I'm glad it's not just me then, it's almost like I need permission to relax.

Tilllly · 03/09/2023 15:18

Definitely not U

Relax

Enjoy

BellaJuno · 03/09/2023 15:18

Do nothing IS doing something, it’s called relaxing! Embrace and enjoy!

AutumnCrow · 03/09/2023 15:18

There will a lot more sunny days, by the look of the forecast, OP. We all need days to just ... catch our breath, I suppose.

I find it so bizarre that there are people out there that feel they must ‘go out’ everyday, even if they don’t really want to, like it’s yet another chore in the long list of chores to be done in the drudgery of life. I can’t think of anything worse than that. Learn to embrace sitting down and just ‘being’!

This is most definitely me, I am one of these people 🙈

I have done that for this weekend -.totally shattered, been on the go since the start of July - feel guilty - there are jobs and projects I could be be getting on with as well as life i could be enjoying out and about on such a nice day but I just need to veg!

Bumble84 · 03/09/2023 15:21

I find if I start feeling guilty going for a shower and putting on marginally better clothes helps allow me to spend the rest of the day sloth-like and guilt free because then I have at least ‘accomplished’ something. Even though in my head I know it should be acceptable to do nothing.

Amae · 03/09/2023 15:23

I’m still in my pyjamas! DH and DD have popped out so I’m making the most of spending a Sunday lazing around in my pyjamas like I used to do when I was in my twenties.

I get what you mean about when the weather is good but to be honest I love laying on my bed being able to look outside at the lovely weather rather than forcing myself to go out in it! X

Do you have fomo or is there some other reason for this?

Everyday brings chores……don’t make extra ones…..choose to do what you want for a change, not what you’ve been conditioned to think you should do.

I have 'house dresses' for days like that, so at least I've sort of got dressed. Today I'm wearing a homemade 'house dress' in order to do some sewing, some vege prepping for the week and very little else. I was feeling a bit guilty about missing out on the sunshine, but not enough to actually think about where to go or what to do.

Oblomov23 · 03/09/2023 15:57

I do this regularly. Hence my username. I stay at home in my dressing gown at least once a month.

NewName122 · 03/09/2023 16:51

Why do you have to ask. It's your life. Do as you please.

xyz111 · 03/09/2023 16:54

Definitely needed. My ds5 wants to go out all the time, but I love it when he says "can we just stay in today and chill?"

I did this on Saturday. Just hit a wall. End of the holidays and I realised I hadn’t been in a room alone for more than 10 minutes for 6 weeks.
i did get up at 6am but at 10 I could t stay awake and told everyone I’d be having a rest. Didn’t emerge from bedroom until 6.

I can confirm that today I woke up feeling a million times better and was a lot more productive than I’ve been in a long whole!
