Blocking the subject of conversation

AIBU? Twice recently with different friends they have stopped me saying more than two sentences about different topics and said “I don’t want to talk about that.” Neither topic was triggering or personal just general chat. I found it rude both times it happened. I felt like they want to talk and I don’t have a voice. If someone was talking to me about something I wasn’t interested in I would steer to conversation into something else. They were both abrupt!

That’s really weird! Especially if just general chit chat. What were you talking about?

WeWereInParis · 02/09/2023 19:10

What were the topics?

Oysterbabe · 02/09/2023 19:13

What was it?

We do need to have some idea of what subject you were bringing up. For example, if I have been out in company, someone says something racist and obviously wants to continue, I will divert the conversation. The same goes if a person starts asking another very personal questions.
