Am I being U that every time I see a kid having a birthday on SM these days it always seems to have to have a picture of them gurning in front of some balloon arch? Makes me 🙄😩

massive waste of money and so bad for the environment too.

They're a silly waste of irreplaceable helium. Hopefully these balloons don't get 'released' afterwards, that's irresponsible litter and wildlife endangerment.

I wish there was a global ban on non essential helium sales.

Do balloon arches need helium? I thought they were just a load of normal balloons blown up and stuck onto a trellis type thing. Still not great for the environment though, all that single use plastic going into landfill.

And then there is the virtue signaling of offering the arch for free on a local fb group, once it’s starting to deflate.

i can’t get stressed about balloons tbh- surely the amount of plastic in the gifts annoys you too?

No helium used in balloon arches and you can get biodegradable balloons now so if people want to do it I don't see a problem 🤷‍♀️

Toys can used for a long period of time. The balloon arch is 'admired' for a few minutes and is then redundant.

Don’t worry a middle classer will bring out a sludge balloon coloured arch and you’ll then find them acceptable
