Sleep regression?

Sorry posting for traffic as when I posted on the parenting board all the replies said sleep regression wasn’t a thing and their babies slept through from 8 weeks or they didn’t notice anything and I was being over anxious ??

My 16 week old has gone from sleeping 7-7 with only 2 feeds (10pm & 3am). To waking up every hour after 12am. It’s taking me anywhere from 10 - 90 minutes to get him back to sleep and I’m absolutely exhausted. My husband works away and I have no family to help nearby, I’m not even comfortable driving anymore I’m so tired. He’s also so whinging during the day, crying pretty much all the time which isn’t like him at all, I’m guessing he’s just as exhausted as me.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do or how long it’s likely to last? He also won’t nap for longer than 30-45 minutes during the day, I do try to nap when he does but I’m so stressed out I can’t drop off to sleep and then he’s awake again.

Ooofffff that’s really stressful and I’m so sorry you don’t have a lot of support. My 14 week old is going through the same regression and it’s really hard. I find he sleeps a bit better in his big cot and (controlled) cosleeping in the big bed with me than he was doing in the next to me, so when it all gets too hard I move him over to one of those. Feeding more during the day seems to help a bit as does making the last feed of the day a big bottle feed (expressed milk as my boy is breastfed). Making sure he’s warm enough is also useful-mine definitely wakes up more if he’s cold. I find a long walk helps with getting him down for a nap, even if it’s just him that naps he tends to be a bit happier after.

I hope that helps, but also just to say a friend of mine has just gone through a month of this and is just now coming out the other side. Not all babies go through this sleep regression but it is real, it does really impact some and it does (eventually) pass. Hope you get some rest soon!

Mine did exactly the same - every 45 mins throughout the night, i breastfed him, settled him, got him back to sleep, id just fall asleep myself and he would wake back up. I tried everything. Nothing worked. He moved to his own room at about 6.5 months.. immediately slept better, waking twice a night (I now believe this is because he could roll on to his front to sleep! He couldn't do that in his bedside crib in my room) - he slept through solid from 10 months, he will be 2 in April and not had an issue with sleep at all x
