I was promoted, office based in London. My company is hosting a conference in Manchester at my old office next month. I’m expected to attend alongside 40 colleagues from my new role. Aibu to feel awkward?
At my old workplace there was a group of staff being horrible (shouting, swearing, lying, nasty comments). They gossiped and discussed me in group chats etc. It was a clique environment and they weren’t happy I got promoted.
My old office is not a likely location for a conference, I never thought the two worlds would collide! It’s a different function so my new team does not work with the old team. My old team aren’t involved in the conference but I feel the dynamic might be rough regardless as I’ll run into people. I’m sure my new and old team might end up mingling too.
