So I'm currently a customer service manager. Sadly being made redundant. I have a great team and we've built a great culture so it's a huge shame.

It's kind of left me feeling a bit lost though because I don't know if I can start again with a new team somewhere else....

Would it be unreasonable to take a side step and find a role that doesn't include managing people?

Would applying for jobs of a different seniority level put off employers as they might think I'm not in it for the long run?

Should I send a cover letter with each application and preface it with why I want a change?

Progression to me always meant going up the chain but I've realised I'd probably be happier as an individual contributor instead.

Would you hire someone with management experience to do an individual role?

Absolutely and I feel your pain! Thinking if you have good customer service skills you could go into a customer experience type role or high end concierge but without staff?
