To ask what car we should get?

I am in the happy position of being able to delegate test driving to DH who has recently retired but we have got rid of our old car and need to get a new one fairly soon.
We used to have a Mercedes A class (I found it the most comfortable to drive due to being slightly raised above the pedals) and then a B class automatic.
He put his name on a list for a new B class but they seem to be out of production.
We have two DCs and only one really needs a car seat any more.
DD and I cycle and she's now on a bike that's too big for most boots - I'd love to be able to get a tow bar rack but DH isn't keen. I really don't want a car top rack (I'm 5ft 3 for a start).

What is similar to a B class that I can send him out to try!

I think BMW still do the 2 series 'active tourer' which to my mind, is the closest to a match (thinking body shape, German engineering etc).
Otherwise my colleague at work has recently taken ownership of a 'Kia Xceed'. I'll admit, he's only had it for.. a few months or so, so long term reliability i couldn't say.
But it seems to serve as a reasonable family car!
