Aibu to take a zero hour contract job?

Can't decide what to do. I currently work term time only in a very boring job with no scope for promotion. Currently have a temporary manager who I don't like but getting a new manager soon so things might improve but might not. The work itself is very boring though and it's just part of the role so not much I can do about that. Very little job satisfaction but little stress and very easy.

New job is zero hour contract but I've been reassured it's very unlikely there won't be work available for the hours I want. Work seems a lot more varied and satisfying. Pay is the same but more hours available in the holidays. I don't need a term time only role any more so would like some work in the holidays.

My OH thinks I should go for it and leave if I don't like it (unlikely). We're in a good position in that his salary would tide us over for a while.

Should I go for it?

Yes. If nothing changes, nothing changes!

Yes. And don’t forget zero hour contracts work both ways - yes they can give you zero or few hours, but you can also refuse hours that you don’t want and resign without a notice period if something else comes along.

as pp says - if nothing changes …!
