Boys attention span age 8

Do most 8 year old boys flit from one thing to another? No SEN.

I don't let them on screens all day (IMO they can't self-regulate at this age) but they don't do anything else for longer than 5 mins without coming to me. We have a decent garden and get out and about.

I'm more 'We've had a nice time playing now find something to do whilst I'm busy and I'll play at XYZ time' whereas DH keeps them constantly entertained.

Is this just boys with energy?

Guess who they ask for more!

Sounds like he has no chance to get bored and find his own amusement..

it’s a child thing. Personality more than sex related.

mine were the same. By 8 they had some sort of sport or activity daily or they drove me up the wall. Sport also meant they had to learn to follow instructions for longer periods.

they started swimming at 5 and gymnastics around 7. Tried football but they didn’t have the concentration span for it 😂. We found there was quite a bit of standing taking turns and controlling the ball, they preferred gymnastics where they always had something to do as the coaches would set repetitions between turns.

It's the pockets of time we are at home (esp school holidays) after we've spent some family time together, they've been outside or we've been somewhere. I push through the complaints to give them space to explore for themselves but 9/10 DH gives in.

Not a boy thing, no. DD2 was incessantly demanding, bless her.
