Sorry, more of a WWYD than an AIBU, but wanted to get some opinions.

I’m mid-way through a big clear out and declutter of clothes in our small and crowded house. I’ve no objection to parting with them, but I’m undecided between selling them or donating them.

If I donate them to a charity shop then it will all be out of the house straight away and I get a bit more space. But if I sell them I could get some cash, which would be very helpful indeed, but it will take time to photograph, list and post and I’ll need to carry on storing it all until it sells, so the house will still feel cluttered

What would you do?

(for the purposes of voting)
YABU - send it straight to the charity shop
YANBU - stick it on Vinted

Depends how much time you have and how much you need the money? If you have some bags you can send things already and sell things in very good condition for between £2-10, you’ll probably make £10-20 per hour (based on 2-3 photos and a brief description).

I usually put on at least 15 items as some people like to bundle. Then take them down to the charity shop if they haven’t sold in a week.

But it’s not as cathartic as a good clear out as you have stuff lying about.

Depends what it is really. If it’s branded gear it’ll sell fast so worth listing but if it’s a basic fee from a supermarket clothing range then probably not worth the effort of listing it as it likely wouldn’t sell - so charity shop for that

I’m in your position and I’ve chosen charity shop. By the time you’ve photographed everything and listed it and waited for it to sell and packaged it and taken it to the post office and paid for the postage … what have you really made?

it all depends whether you need the time and the space more or the money more

I normally get rid straight away. I recently listed some bits on Vinted and sold some but it's a fiver here and there and a faff to keep packing and posting. I am doing a car boot sale tomorrow and anything that doesn't sell will go straight to charity.
