Bingbangboo64 · 26/08/2023 20:24

I found out that someone I know uses the bathroom shower sponge also for washing the dishes, like her tea cup in the bathroom with no washing up liquid?

I was like wth.. I am not only one right?

Her choice.

Seaweed42 · 26/08/2023 20:25

yeah I'd be like WTF as well.

Like the time I read on MN that people...flush...their...waste...food...down...the....toilet 😫

Other people came on and said they did it too.
I've never really recovered since.

Whaaaat?

avemariiiaa · 26/08/2023 20:28

So she takes the shower sponge to the kitchen and scrubs dishes? Then takes it back to the bathroom washes her arse with it?

Close but takes the sponge from the shower that was used for washing the bottom, scrubs her teacup in the sink with it,with no washing up liquid, rinses it with water and then drinks from it.

urgh

Surely it'd be better to just rinse the cup with water!

I’m considering doing this now our bins are on fortnightly

Coral12345 · 26/08/2023 20:51

What am I reading?!! 😂

Poudretteite · 26/08/2023 20:57

definitely weird but doubt it will do any damage

Furryrug · 26/08/2023 20:57

But why is she taking her cup into the bathroom and not the kitchen?

Ours have been every third week for 9 months or so now and we haven't had to resort to this yet, thankfully.

tulippa · 26/08/2023 21:00

Are her bathroom and kitchen very close to each other? Seems a faff when you could just have two sponges. And that's before you start thinking about the yuck of it all. Confused

mathanxiety · 26/08/2023 21:01

Ye gods and little fishes!

What have I just read???!!!

Schmokin · 26/08/2023 21:02

Really shouldn’t have read this thread 🤢

tulippa · 26/08/2023 21:03

My mum used to throw unfinished bowls of cereal, soup etc down the toilet. It's not something I've carried on - too splashy.

That just made me laugh out loud!!

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 26/08/2023 21:12

I hope its only her own cup she's washing with the arse sponge...

I'd be turning up clutching a take away coffee if I ever set foot in her house again, I'd not want to trust the rest of the crockery.

Is she washing a cup in the ensuite that she only uses in the bedroom - like with a teasmade or something? I can see occasionally rinsing that out in the bathroom to save forgetting to bring it back again and being stuck without tea, but I think using the sponge is several steps too far!

sweeneytoddsrazor · 26/08/2023 21:16

Do you not have weekly food waste bin collection?

Also terrible for the sewers. No wonder there are problems. I can see that other people have said they have had to resort to this though due to bins never being collected.

Nope, no food waste collections here, has to go in the black bag to landfill / incineration.

But I also don't chuck food down the loo, I'd imagine it contributes quite a lot to fatbergs.

LucyAnnTrent · 26/08/2023 21:48

Better than cleaning the bog brush in the dishwasher! Envy

EatYourVegetables · 26/08/2023 21:55

MN is weird.

I’ve seen that if you wear the same bra 2 days in a row, or if your 6yo son wears the same underpants for 24h (night and day), or if you don’t change your sheets once a week, you are “grim”.

At the same time, using a body sponge 🤮to wash dishes 🤮 is ok, as is (saw recently) not washing hands after changing a shitty nappy 💩💩🤮🤮🤮.

I mean, YUCK. And also, do these people ever think of what germs actually do?

ElEmEnOhPee · 26/08/2023 22:01

Only thing I throw down the loo is unfinished cereal because I'm lazy and it's a faff trying to stop the cereal going down the plug hole when trying to drain the milk.

OP YANBU that is grim! Imagine finding a pube in your cuppa!

sweeneytoddsrazor · 26/08/2023 22:03

Well I have never heard of anyone chucking food down the toilet before. Or washing cups with a shower sponge. I don't actually use a sponge anyway. We have a flannel or rather multiple flannels that get used and chucked in the washing machine.
I rarely think our council is good at anything but we do have weekly recycling doorstep collections, and fortnightly wheelie bin collections so maybe they aren't as awful as I think

Right?!!
I don't get it.
Where is the outrage?
I get it's her choice but.
I'm astounded..

Are you sure your mate isn't having you on OP???
