To just give up driving

I have been driving about 8 years now but tbh I just give up after today. I feel as though there is so many drivers rushing, trying to intimidate.

Today, I had my 2 young children in the car. Was in a new city I’ve not drove in before and was a bit stressed and unfortunately I got in the wrong lane approaching a round about with traffic lights. We were not close to the traffic lights as there was a row of traffic in both lanes and I realised well before the round about that I was not in the right lane. I indicated and a car let me in to the lane I needed to be in. I hardly held up the man behind me in the wrong lane I was in as I was able to merge into the other lane quickly and we all got through on the green light. However, he beeped 3 times and stuck his middle finger out the window at me. Just feel like my confidence on the roads has been knocked.

Honestly, don't even give it a second thought. Some people just morph into absolute pricks as soon as they get behind the wheel. My sister and I were on the motorway the other day and had some man behind us shaking his head and flashing his lights for absolutely no reason. We were in standstill traffic all three lanes, there was nowhere anybody could go but clearly this didn't apply to him and everyone should have cleared the way so he could get through. He eventually got into an argument with the person in the car next to him who also wouldn't/couldn't go anywhere. We just laughed and ignored him. Not our problem he's a wanker. For every twat there's a nice person-I encounter FAR more considerate and polite drivers than rude ones, but we tend to fixate on the negative encounters. It's a wrong lane, not the end of the world. If you don't get let in you go around the roundabout, nothing to get worried about. Worst that happens is you take the wrong exit, turn around somewhere and go back 🤷‍♀️

You're never going to see them again. Don't let it bother you or stop you living your life.

It's small dick energy. That's all!

This. There are twats on the road who have clearly NEVER had to change lanes in a hurry, etc...!

We've all experienced it and it's worse if the twat can see you're a woman. You have to ignore them.

The only problem I see is the male driver you described. I feel you did the right thing, and to be honest, who hasn't ever got in the wrong lane. The fact he behaved so rudely because he was delayed by a few nano seconds speak more about his poor driving than yours. Please don't let a t#@t make you give up driving.

At least you observed the signage/road markings, and realised you were in the wrong lane soon enough to change lanes. Far too many drivers are blind to signage/markings and change lanes far too late (and often without indicating or checking for other traffic).
