It’s a film I love and can watch over and over. Is it a great film? Well that’s my question. It’s become a kind of feminist Anthem film yet it fails the Bechdel Test. And it could be argued it’s not particularly empowering given the only route left for these women is:

suicide. However, I’d argue that it’s their choice that’s key. They refuse to be constrained by patriarchal mores and seeing no other option want to be free at any cost, hence they ‘just keep going’.

Anyway, I love it. Am I being unreasonable?

Vanishing Point is a minor classic. The patriarchy, which he has served, and its values destroy him.

This film sounds interesting. I might have a look at this tonight..:

the Bechdel Test isn't infallible - and is a blunt instrument.

So (I've only seen it once so pls forgive me) movie about 2 women who are together because they are running away from bad relationships (and a rape?) will of course talk about those relationships and thus fail the test. But don they really have NO other conversations about anything at all? because if at any point they speak to each other, or any other woman character, about anything excluding men, they pass the test.

Brad pitt is gorgeous in that film and his sex scene with GD is 🔥

Agree with the Butch Cassidy reference. For me it’s in league with Pretty Woman, that is: a hugely popular and successful film based on shaky moral ground.
