Keeping child away from abusive in-laws

Long story short.

My in-laws are toxic.

I have had over a decade of complete madness, everything from drug abuse, alcoholics, social services, other family members children being taken away, abusive voice mails to me and my partner, threats of violence, childhood sexual abuse being revealed by 2 members and the attempt to rug sweep afterwards due to others being involved, affairs, threats, police knocking on my door.

And thats the short version, it was nigh on every week something kicked off.

I am now keeping my 9 year old away from all of them.

I am being called controlling and bad mouthed all over because of this.

Am I being unreasonable to keep my child away from seeing them?

Of course you are not unreasonable, which you surely know.

Is there the opportunity to move away, cut ties, change number and social media and start afresh.
Sounds like a horrible drama series.
Is dad/husband involved with them?
Just sounds like an awfully long time to put up with such things.
I'd start planning to move away if it was possible.
Wish you all the best, op.

Of course you must keep your child away from paedophile and sex abusers! Are they your direct inlaws or other extended members of the family. Why can't you just call the police? Have they been convicted? Why have you put it up with it for a decade. Why would you still after 9 years still have anything to do with such awful people. Sounds like so much drama.

It is a horrible drama series.

My partner was very much involved in it all until 2 years ago, but has since said "they have finally seen what they are like" - which is obvious to anyone else.

We've thought about moving away, its a difficult choice though due to work, property, schooling.

As its only a small community, the whole abusive partner label which has been thrown at me, and they are mental - which has been thrown around about my partner is difficult to live with, and many a time I have nearly openly posted on social media about everything with all the messages/voice mails/proof that I have about them. It drives me mad and makes me paranoid a lot of the time.
