to think that larger size catologues

are hypocritical (for want of a better word) this catologue in question does clothes for sizes 12-32, now me being a size 18-20 has trouble finding clothes that look and fit nice in the high street shops which cater mostley for smaller people so i have turned to this catologue, have been a bit put out though to be looking through this catologue for 'larger ladys' only to find that all the clothes are being modelled by teensy tiny women, now in my humble opinion i would think that there should be some larger people aswell as the small modelling these clothes1 Am i being UR or just bitter

they are shithouses - but Dorothy perkins is fab for work wear - although the casual stuff is pants - all stripey jumpers and primary colours. but they are cheap enough for suits and skirts and blouses - i find

places like new look have a larger section - and even in thier other ranges it goes up to 18.

hmmm i have always avoided DP as i thought they where really expensive, might be worth a look though

the new look in my town has virtually no selection, and they charge a million pounds per t shirt for the selection they do have

Companies who make clothes for bigger sized woman often claim the models they use are 16 - 18 but they are tall and in proportion so often look slimmer in the photos.

I'm not sure how they would get round it as they obviously still want customers to aspire to the 'ideal figure' which looks good in their clothes. I just can't see a day when they will use average shaped women to model clothes.

oh YANBU I am a very larges lady and hate the fact that as someone else said these size 16 models who are also 6ft dont actually look particularly big and the clothes dont hang on their muffin tops

I think your right meemar, its very unfair actually because most of the world do not have the ideal figure, i actually quite feel like slitting my wrists now after looking through this silly catalogue of georgous tiny women with wash board stomachs and perfect tans grrrrrrr

when i was a size 18-20 i shopped mainly in new look, dotty p, dunnes,tesco and tkmaxx.also got a few boden things.i find catalogues a bit crap -plus you really need to try the things on before buying.La redoute stuff is horrid frankly and smiply be is ok,but sludgey colours i think.
also hate that they put size 16 girls in the pictures.

Hi, just wanted to pop on and let you in on a tip. If you're talking about simply be (you may not be) there is an advanced search box at the top of the screen, if you click on it, and search for all clothes from £0.00 to whatever amount you want to spend, loads of results come up for really cheap clothes which aren't shown if you flick through the actual pages of clothes.

I did a search for £0.00- £7.00 and masses of stuff came up, packs of three or four tops for under a fiver, massively reduced nightwear and underwear etc. I got about fifteen items of clothing for under £30, it was great! Just thought I'd pass on the tip.

You're right about the models, although I'm not sure how much they'd sell if they used real big women to model their clothes. I suppose we want to imagine the clothes will make us look like the size 12 model. Some american clothing stores for larger women do use real larger models, but I have to be honest and say it didn't inspire me to buy anthing, I just thought "oh yeah, I'd look like a sack of spuds in that too" (I'm a size 26)

YA totally NBU. These catalogues are a nightmare for that, although I have to say, Simply Be clothes that look great in the catalogue, frequently look horrible because they're incredibly badly made in cheap crap fabrics.

I'm a size 18-20 too, and would second the recs for Dorothy Perkins. I love them, particularly since I am 6ft tall, and they actually make trousers both long and wide enough for me...

I second that about SB's clothes frequently being badly made or cheap. I have to say, about 25% of stuff I order from them I end up sending back. They're usually ok for tops, nightwear and underwear, but their trousers (particularly maternity ones) are dodgy, I've ordered loads and they're always weird fitting in some way. Just got a nice comfortable smart coat from them though so can't complain too much.
