Wedding day - how to have it?!

Hi everyone, posting here for traffic 😬 I am so stuck for wedding ideas & hoping someone can come along and give some of their own. Me and my fiancé have been engaged for 3 years, 2 young children and we are both just wanting to be married now.

Haven’t got loads of money, and neither of us are really into having all the attention on us (I know that’s hard to avoid at a wedding 😂). Equally we don’t really do much for ourselves so would be nice to make the day special without going over the top. I have quite a big family and we want our families to be there.

has anybody had a smallish / non conventional wedding themselves ? How did the actual parts of the day go? (If that makes any sense) what did you do?

I’ve really gone off drinking myself and as I’m getting older can’t stand being around drunk people, so kind of put off doing the standard wedding reception that tends to revolve around everyone getting drunk 🫣

would really appreciate anyones ideas :) thanks!

Had 32 people at ours. Only family. We sat family in the choir stalls in the church, so the family was closer to the action! It felt very relaxed and much less formal. Then we had a reception at a local hotel with a nice meal. We had private use of the function room, a garden and a lounge/bar area. Then late afternoon/early evening we went for a walk over the road at a national trust park and took photos. Then back for an evening buffet. No dancing. No massive booze up, though people bought drinks at the bar as they wanted. We left around 11pm, family stayed eating and drinking
