To ask if anyone has actually lost 7-10 lbs in 3 weeks?

WhatWhereWhenHowWhy · 20/08/2023 21:44

Just that...
You see all those diet plans with the claim of losing 7-10 lbs in 3 weeks and looking lots better.

Has anyone done this in real life? If so how? And did you actually slim down/look or feel better? Fit into a specific outfit etc or make a real change?

(A friends wedding in 3/4 weeks and would love to feel and look better). Size 14 5ft3 and sedentary job not by choice but by nature!

I lost 17lbs in four weeks earlier this year.

Stopped alcohol and snacks/junk food. Lot of water. Rode 50-60mins per day average on spin bike, ended up covering about 1100km and burned 31,000 calories.

Didn't watch what I ate in terms of regular meals or counted my calorie intake, just made sure there was nothing obviously fatty or unhealthy.

It's an extreme example, but proves that it is doable if you are fortunate enough to have a lifestyle where you don't need to eat out/on the move and can find the time to exercise. I realize I'm lucky to be able to do that.

Have a look at the Fast800 plan by Michael Mosley. It’s very doable, and safely.

Me too, à stone in 21 days. Then about 2 months for the next stone, much less strict about calories but still mes diet. Another stone in following 3 months. Kept it off for about a year then went wild.

ShyTed · 20/08/2023 22:44

Yes absolutely possible!

And you don’t have to starve yourself either. My advice is to go onto James smith calculator and input all your details and it will give you a calorie allowance specific to you. Then you can track your calories using my fitness pal or similar.

Try to eat a good variety of foods, keep protein high in every meal that you can and bulk up your meals with low calorie components! Eg if having a roast chicken dinner have your chicken, small portion of potatoes and larger portion of veg

ConcernedCatmother · 20/08/2023 22:53

Yes search Cillas Amazing Smoothie Detox, results are insane, I easily lost that in 2 weeks and kept it off for 2 years now xx

ODFOx · 20/08/2023 23:23

I'm big enough to lose 10lb in 3 weeks at the beginning if a diet if I go for a push start.

It won't really show but I will feel energised to continue a weight loss plan ( a more sensible one) going forward.

Kona84 · 20/08/2023 23:29

I lost 5kg in 2 weeks with intermittent fasting.
but not then5:2 type
I’m still doing intermittent fasting- it’s so easy I am 6 weeks in and 15lbs down total.

I do 17:7 mostly - stop eating at 7:30pm and don’t eat again until 12:30noon next day. Repeat
there’s more science behind it than calories restriction watch some dr Fung videos on YouTube.
I feel amazing

Milkand2sugarsplease · 21/08/2023 01:02

I lost 10lb in my first 3 weeks on SW. since then it has slowed down to an average of 1 a week but I'm happy with that.

mumof1or2 · 21/08/2023 01:45

Yea I've lost more than this on the Cambridge diet. At least half a stone the first week and then 3 or 4lbs a week after that.

Waitymatey · 21/08/2023 01:48

ME!!! Keto 6 lbs first week
losr another pound the following week and a couple more the week after that
Lost a stone in under 2 months.
And I’m menopausal

Darkparadice · 21/08/2023 02:25

I have lost 7lbs in the last 5 days. I know it’s unhealthy but I can’t loose weight unless it’s extreme. I prefer to do it quickly and then build back up to maintaining.
Diet plan I have been following, nothing official, just my own plan, is protein shake for breakfast, protein shake for lunch, protein shake for tea. 170 cals each. Drinks are tea with a drop of milk, water and the occasional zero fizzy.
I obviously wouldn’t recommend it long term but it’s good for a quick fix as it gives you the results.

NumberTheory · 21/08/2023 02:28

I did when I was under 40. Once when I started a calorie controlled diet -1400 calories a day and very active. Lost 5 lbs first week, 3 the second and 3 the third, then went to a fairly steady 1.5lb a week drop, so it was just the sort of kick start. The other time I was very sick and couldn’t really eat for two weeks, I was around 12 lbs lighter by the time it was over but the weight went back on quickly.

Now I’m over 50 even when I’ve been so sick I can’t eat, I don’t lose that sort of weight. Dieting definitely doesn’t have such an fast impact.

verdantverdure · 21/08/2023 04:26

If you don't usually exercise a lot you can look loads better in three weeks by exercising daily.

WhatWhereWhenHowWhy · 21/08/2023 06:59

Wow- blown away by these stories. I'm really going to give it a go.

Steady doesn't work for me , I have to hit hard and maintain. I've lost a stone already but stuck at just under 12 stone. I'd love to be 11s7 for this wedding. I'm part of the wedding party!

The dress will look nice on regardless but I'd love to feel better too and have less bloat!

Thank you all x

Sure. But it's not going to be 10 pounds of fat. About half of that can be water weight. 1.5-2 pounds a week is achievable but unless you're very overweight it's not really great as your calorie deficit will be huge, you'll probably be miserable, and you'll likely lose muscle as well as fat.

Onceuponatime56 · 21/08/2023 07:08

I would say you could easily lose 6lb in 3 weeks - half a stone in a month. You would need to keep your eating very light, focus on vegetables, drink lots of water and walk lots

Funkychick1984 · 27/06/2025 14:32

I’ve lost 11 pound in a 2.5 weeks 😳 I am 5ft 8in I was 10 stone 11pounds I’m now 10stone, so I wasn’t big to start with but my weight loss is stress unfortunately, just hope I don’t get any health problems from the quick loss

jimmyeatworld · 27/06/2025 14:36

I lost 9lb in a week when I went on mounjaro

Hellohelga · 27/06/2025 14:39

Yes I did for a wedding. Had normal breakfast. At work had only fruit and yoghurt. My job in those days was v busy so the day flew past and no time to feel hungry. Normal dinner when I got home after work. Weight fell off.

EmBear91 · 27/06/2025 21:13

I lost 7lbs in 3 weeks through eating in a calorie deficit (for me that was 1,450 calories a day) & cutting out junky food. I still ate what I wanted really, didn’t deprive myself of anything but stuck within the calorie deficit & tried to clean up my diet generally for the health side of things. Aka, more veg, less sugar, more water, less diet fizzy drinks.

AmberTurtles · 27/06/2025 22:33

Easily to lose that in the first week as most of the loss is fluid.

FunnysInLaJardin · 27/06/2025 22:38

Sigh, its just so tedious. Just be happy with who you are @WhatWhereWhenHowWhy size 14 is nothing and these crash diets are fine in the short term but will fuck your metabolism in the longer term.

Take it from one who knows

and, dont believe the hype....

Bippityboppityboo67 · 27/06/2025 22:46

Yes on slimming world great plan so much variety of food. Definitely not unlimited carbs as some people think. I lost 2.5 lbs a week in the beginning month and 1lb a lb week after. I didn't follow the plan as closely though after 1st month but definitely looked better after about 4 weeks. Pretty much maintaining now though because I'm a bit lackadaisical about it.
Just back from a 2 week holiday in Portugal and maintained just by making good choices and didn't skimp on my food or drink.

XenoBitch · 27/06/2025 22:47

I did when intermittent fasting.

ODFOx · 30/06/2025 18:31

Circumferences · 20/08/2023 21:52

No 😂

You'd need to eat less than 500 calories per day and exercise an hour a day to lose that amount in three weeks.
Your body would be so shocked you'd probably experience health problems as a result.

A safe and easy weight loss plan is 1-2lb per week, not 3lb per week.

Nonsense. Dropping 300 cals pwr day off what you currently eat you will lose 1-2lb a week. (3-6lb in 3 weeks). If you chuck in 1 ‘fast day (500calories) a week that’ll be another lb. (3lb in 3 weeks).
plus for 3 weeks you can easily keep momentum going, so concentrate on moving more and making sure that you drink more than 2 litres of water a day.
it isn’t sustainable at that rate, but 7-20lb is eminently possible in 3 weeks if this is the start of the diet.
