Invited to DH's friends house for lunch, beautiful house, very posh. All sat down for coffee on their tables and chairs outside. Excused myself to go to the loo and the loudest fart ever escaped. Everyone looked mortified and I just said sorry. Went to the bathroom, nearly cried out of embarrassment and luckily everyone carried on as normal when I returned although I felt his colleague was smirking a bit. Can kind of see the funny side now but can see DH is still embarrassed which makes me feel bad but not like it was done purposely. Definitely not my finest hour.....

I wouldn't stress, OP. Farting is a normal bodily function. I might have said something funny to difuse the situation....."Whoops! Guess lunch was really good", "Too bad THAT couldn't have waited a few feet to the loo".......but if DH is still embarrassed, that's on him, he needs to grow up. No one else cares.

you most definitely have a DH problem, not a wind problem. He must surely know it was an involuntary one, not done on purpose.

He still seems off with me now. It's not like I did it on bloody purpose. 😞

I can guarantee that every single person at that table farts, including your oh-so-sanctimonious DH, and that surprise guffs happen to the best of us now and again.

So the decider really is on whether it was just noisy or whether you’d stank the room out as you left. Both natural functions, one more worthy of embarrassment than the other.

is your husband one of the people who pretends he doesn’t poo?

Just incredibly loud. Don't think it smelt all that bad.
He's acting like I deliberately showed him up.

I've found that as I get a bit older, surprise farts just come out of nowhere! They never used to!

I walking with my kids and a couple of their mates a few weeks back, and I just went "Oh! I've got a squeaky shoe!" I don't know if any of them were fooled. :)
