Who was unreasonable train staff or passenger

Chaoscreated · 19/08/2023 15:31

Name changed
I am travelling today and witnessed a commotion between train worker and a passenger.
I do not have all specific details.
the train is around a 3 hour journey but there was no reserved seats and was a super off peak train.
due to cancellations of other trains this train became very busy.
I got on the train and there was no seats available in the carriage or the ones either side.
a women was getting on with a child and 2 large suitcases and a backpack.
she was getting assistance but they left as soon she boarded. There was no room. We were all at this point hovering at end of carriage by the doors.
the child got emotional and cried that she couldn’t stand that long.
the train worker came past and the women had asked if it was possible to pay to go to first class and explained that Her DC was disabled. They said there wasn’t any way but
then told us all that carriage A had seats but we couldn’t walk through the train and so the first stop we could get off and walk down and get back on.
women explained that it might take them a while because her DC is not very fast. She did not specify what was wrong with her DC but she seemed to have some form of tube.
they told her as we were standing right there they would have time and not to worry they would not Leave with out them.
the DC then sat on the floor until the stop.
myself, sister and 2 other men got off to make our way to carriage A. We did not have luggage so got off faster, anyway after she got her luggage off the train, she ran behind us but fell behind because of DC.
eventually they joined us on the carriage but there was a commotion
1.the train worker had got stressed with DC on the platform and started shouting they needed to move faster as train was going to go without them. 2. no one assisted like the said they would. 3. Due to her being the last of the group who got back on from original carriage the 4 available seats were now taking by the other 4 of us.
she wants a refund and he was saying it wasn’t their fault nothing they can do so she was going to put a complaint in. By the this point the whole Carriage could hear what was Going on.
she stood by luggage area and Dc sat on floor.
was she unreasonable ?

Note from MNHQ: please read the OP's subsequent posts before responding. She's admitted this thread is a reverse (and apologised for it!) but would still like MNers' opinions.

Ok ok I can see this back firing, I am a regular on mumsnet and not a troll. I did reverse it because I was already feeling really sensitive and was worried I would be attacked for kicking off 😩🙈

Well that was not a really good thinking there...

Of course you wouldn't Confused
Now prepare for 789 posts from people who don't read past op (at best ). Good luck

Chaoscreated · 19/08/2023 15:48

I can proof it is real though 😩 sorry I reversed. One second I will share proof.

It sounds like you were unreasonable along with the other 3 passengers that took advantage of the disabled child to hurry ahead and take the last remaining seats

This. The four of you were arseholes.

PeanutContinuum · 19/08/2023 15:48

It had to be a reverse didnt it. Shocking some people’s behaviour. Sorry you had an awful journey OP

IHateWasps · 19/08/2023 15:48

This as blatant a reverse as you can get. All the story needed was some mournful violin music to accompany it. There is absolutely no need to post reverses.

So are you the women with the disabled child?

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 19/08/2023 15:49

You, your sister & the other 2 men were completely unreasonable - as was anybody able to stand in the carriage who didn't give their seat up for a disabled child.
I actually misread it at first and thought you were helping her with the children so she could get the luggage - how wrong i was.

GolgafrinchamB · 19/08/2023 15:50

I hate reverses.

But yes, the other passengers were absolute dicks to not offer help andf to take the seats.

panko · 19/08/2023 15:50

3. Due to her being the last of the group who got back on from original carriage the 4 available seats were now taking by the other 4 of us. did all 4 of you need a seat? If not why on earth didn't one of you offer at least the disabled child a seat?!

What was the point in reversing it? I don't get it.

Chaoscreated · 19/08/2023 15:51

I apologised for the reserve - it’s been a heck of a day I was worried I would be attacked if it was me being unreasonable. I can only apologise.

Anyone who didn't offer a child with an obvious disability was selfish, unreasonable and an arsehole in my opinion.

This. It is easy to do the right thing in this situation. All the passengers that did not need a seat should be ashamed.

OH god OP sorry I had a right go at you! Didn't think any one would reverse something like this!

DragonFly98 · 19/08/2023 15:52

Why say you do t have all the details?

Hawh · 19/08/2023 15:53

Hey, I've worked on trains before, normally in this situation, if they've cancelled trains, they should have assisted you better with this especially with your child being disabled. Normally, tannoys and staff say that in these circumstances, passengers should be prepared to move for people who need the seats more. In this case, I would put a complaint in about it because it does help improve the service and staff training. Those people who didn't move are and took the last seats are arseholes.

I voted you were unreasonable then found out it was a reverse. Well clearly the other passengers were selfish arseholes. I'd have helped you and I wouldn't have taken a seat.

Chaoscreated · 19/08/2023 15:56

@DragonFly98 i was being over sensitive about the situation but if I went in to great details about what disability etc the stranger on the train would not know that.
it was my fault I was feeling over sensitive and wanted to know whether I was unreasonable but don’t think I could of coped if it was mean against DC or I

you don’t need to report I will request for it to be removed my self.

Why say you do t have all the details?

Because if op did give all the details it's obvious it was a reverse or she'd have been badgered how she knew the details.
Bloody awful behaviour from the other passengers they should be ashamed.
Sorry OP, out public transport service like all her public services needs a bloody good overhaul.
Hope you and your dc are now safely at your destination and able to relax as much as possible CakeBrew

Chanel05 · 19/08/2023 15:57

I find it bizarre that you noticed all this happening, yet didn't offer to help!

qabest · 19/08/2023 15:58

Why reverse stuff, it just pisses everyone off

brokenlore · 19/08/2023 15:58

Urgh, our and the.... my iPad is constantly changing or missing out letters...it's doing my loaf in!

PriamFarrl · 19/08/2023 15:58

I’m so sorry that this happened to you. I cannot believe that people pushed on ahead and didn’t help you and your child. I can’t imagine ever being so selfish.

PorridgePies · 19/08/2023 16:00

They should have let you have a seat for your DD.

bleuclair · 19/08/2023 16:01

I'm sorry you needed to ask who was at fault. Certainly not you, and I'm sorry you weren't helped.
