Who was unreasonable train staff or passenger

Name changed
I am travelling today and witnessed a commotion between train worker and a passenger.
I do not have all specific details.
the train is around a 3 hour journey but there was no reserved seats and was a super off peak train.
due to cancellations of other trains this train became very busy.
I got on the train and there was no seats available in the carriage or the ones either side.
a women was getting on with a child and 2 large suitcases and a backpack.
she was getting assistance but they left as soon she boarded. There was no room. We were all at this point hovering at end of carriage by the doors.
the child got emotional and cried that she couldn’t stand that long.
the train worker came past and the women had asked if it was possible to pay to go to first class and explained that Her DC was disabled. They said there wasn’t any way but
then told us all that carriage A had seats but we couldn’t walk through the train and so the first stop we could get off and walk down and get back on.
women explained that it might take them a while because her DC is not very fast. She did not specify what was wrong with her DC but she seemed to have some form of tube.
they told her as we were standing right there they would have time and not to worry they would not Leave with out them.
the DC then sat on the floor until the stop.
myself, sister and 2 other men got off to make our way to carriage A. We did not have luggage so got off faster, anyway after she got her luggage off the train, she ran behind us but fell behind because of DC.
eventually they joined us on the carriage but there was a commotion
1.the train worker had got stressed with DC on the platform and started shouting they needed to move faster as train was going to go without them. 2. no one assisted like the said they would. 3. Due to her being the last of the group who got back on from original carriage the 4 available seats were now taking by the other 4 of us.
she wants a refund and he was saying it wasn’t their fault nothing they can do so she was going to put a complaint in. By the this point the whole Carriage could hear what was Going on.
she stood by luggage area and Dc sat on floor.
was she unreasonable ?

Note from MNHQ: please read the OP's subsequent posts before responding. She's admitted this thread is a reverse (and apologised for it!) but would still like MNers' opinions.

Sounds like a reverse to me!

Chaoscreated · 19/08/2023 15:41

The train worker had told us all that information because they did not want us blocking the doors / aisles.
we assumed we would have to get off he train if we had not sat down.

As if this is real

2weekstowait · 19/08/2023 15:42

Everyone was unreasonable, except her. Why didn't anyone help her? Anyone could have given up their seat for the child, anyone could have carried her luggage to carriage A.... It wasn't her fault that the train was unexpectedly much busier than usual and she definitely has a right to complain.

Capitulatingpanda · 19/08/2023 15:43

People went ahead and took the free seats from a disabled kid?! Wow that's horrible. I can't believe not one person offered up a seat. I think that ideally train staff would have helped but you'd have expected at least one those passengers to have a shred of decency.

SurferRona · 19/08/2023 15:43

And the disabled seats\spaces? Im calling reverse too.

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 19/08/2023 15:43

I can't believe none of you helped her or offered her disabled child a seat.

I'm hoping this is a reverse because that's really disgusting behaviour on all your parts.

That is not how trains work

EvilElsa · 19/08/2023 15:44

Who the fuck would let this go on while sitting in a seat?! Did you all just watch on while she struggled and her kid cried? I'm assuming you are the lady in question?

CharlotteBog · 19/08/2023 15:44

Reverse!

Saschka · 19/08/2023 15:44

So you went and took a seat and left a disabled person standing?

Seriously, you are being incredibly unreasonable. You pushed in front of a disabled child so you could get to the last four seats before them??

This is surely a troll, nobody could be that selfish.

FloopyZebra · 19/08/2023 15:44

Wow.........I'm gobsmacked that you watched her struggle, didn't offer any help and didn't offer her a seat!

Poor woman!!!

Ahh so you were happy with the idea of a family with a disabled child being left behind at an unknown station then.

takealettermsjones · 19/08/2023 15:45

Either this is a reverse or you (and your sister, and the other two people) are one of the most wholly unreasonable people I've ever read about on here.

growgrowinggrown · 19/08/2023 15:45

What utter bollocks! Don't you have anything better to do than make up stories on the Internet?

Chaoscreated · 19/08/2023 15:45

Ok ok I can see this back firing, I am a regular on mumsnet and not a troll. I did reverse it because I was already feeling really sensitive and was worried I would be attacked for kicking off 😩🙈

So did the woman have to get off or did she stand?

user1471556818 · 19/08/2023 15:36

Why didn't you and the other passengers help her is what stands out to me.
No way would I have not offered and asked others to help.
That's my take on it

I'm in complete agreement with this OP. Shame on the lot of you

TibetanTerrah · 19/08/2023 15:45

I'd have run ahead and nabbed a seat for sure.

Its the only way I could guarantee the disabled child would get one.

The woman had luggage and children. Anyone hearing all that and rushing ahead to grab a seat for themselves is an awful person.

2weekstowait · 19/08/2023 15:46

I don't think this can be real. As someone who has been on a crowded train with kids, trying to hoist heavy luggage around on my own, I will say that there has always been someone who has stepped up to help me without me having to ask.

AnxiouslyWait · 19/08/2023 15:46

This is unbelievable

So the same applied to the lady and her disabled dc then? You were happy to leave her stranded if they had gotten on the other train carriage, and there were no seats left, so unable to sit down, and have to then got off? I hope this is a reverse. Otherwise, you're really not a very nice person. Could none of the adults in the group have helped her with luggage so she could carry her dc? It's such a horrible and selfish world we appear to be living in. I would complain about the lack of help from train staff, yes.

PeanutContinuum · 19/08/2023 15:47

Why did no one help this poor woman and her child? Passengers too, not just staff. And then after nabbing the seats first, left her child to sit on the floor after she barely made it on? Surely no one thinks this is ok.

Sheepsheepie · 19/08/2023 15:47

You guys raced a disabled child and mother with luggage down the train platform to guarantee yourselves seats?

The train is what us is as with the mother and child, neither of them are unreasonable. However all the other passengers are awful
