Lying to your children about about the time to get them in bed by 6pm (more 'me' time)

My friend who I've know since school frequently lies to her two 6 year olds about the time to get them in bed by 6pm so she gets some 'me' time.

She tells them it's midnight when it's actually 6pm and they believe it.

My DD is 13 months and she doesn't even go to bed this early.

I think it's wrong and tbh quite cruel.

😁 this shows my age, but I remember watching a certain TV programme that finished at 6pm. It was always bedtime after this programme. DC never questioned it ... until 8 years old when the programme became to babyish!

They wouldn’t be up until midnight anyway?

Why lie though? Every night? What will the mum do in 2 years time? I think it is cruel. If your lying about something you are avoiding something so perhaps the kids are asking it's cruel.

You should concentrate on you instead of worrying about other people 🙂

You carnt compare your 13 month old to a 6 year old. I used to say it was bedtime earlier than usual if I could see they where overtired and needed to be in bed, they needed it and I needed the down time. She is dealing with two 6 year olds, you are dealing with a baby the two are not comparable. It's also normal for a 6 year old to amuse themselves in a morning. Get off your high horse.
