As some of you will know, we are having a never ending illness round in our house. DS1 and I got slapped cheek, it caused me to get swelling in my joints. Anyway, last week DS2 got the rash on his face. Since then it has spread all over his body, getting considerably worse as the week has wore on. It is red and patchy, but not itchy. He is well otherwise, apart from a cough. He had a high temp and a snotty nose the first few days. I took him to the pharmacist the other day to see if she could recommend something for it. She said she was pretty sure it was measles, and to take him to the doctor doctor, which I did, and she said it was a virus, not measles and he could go back to school. Which he did. Yesterday. They had a class trip then and some mums were helping out. They noticed his rash and complained to the teacher about it, saying he shouldn't be in school, and saying it could be contagious. So the head called me today and asked me about it. I told her what doc had said (again, I put this in a note to the school yesterday)and she has "suggested" that I get a note from the doctors. however when I asked the surgery, they said the GPs charge £65 for things like this. So now I'm stuck. I'll have all the mothers (none of whom speak to me anyway) talking about me in the playground and what is bothering me more is that the children might start saying something to DS2.
Am I being unreasonable to
Expect the school to take my word for it when I said the GP said he was ok to go back to school?
