Is there anything more annoying when you’re busy at work

Is there anything more annoying when you’re busy at work, than someone saying just tell them you won’t do it?!?!

I’ve spent the last couple of days doing some work for my manager, who’s come back and asked me to add in something else which means going through the whole thing again. I had a little moan to my DH who said oh email your manager and say you aren’t going to do it. And now he’s annoyed that I got annoyed with him for saying it.

I honestly don’t know anyone that would turn round and say no to their manager so why do people suggest it ? If I did, I’d be in major trouble and I know he would never say no to his manager either. Honestly makes me so annoyed as it’s such a stupid thing to say. Grrr 😡roll on the weekend.

I would say no to my manager if it wasn't a reasonable request. I say no relatively regularly at work. If I said yes to everything I was asked to do then I literally wouldn't be able to manage the workload.

In reality, you probably just wanted to moan/vent but he's trying to problem-solve for you.

It's not a stupid thing to say though, it might be unsuitable for this particular request, but that doesn't make it a stupid thing to say.

That is annoying but not wrong. I often say to my manager "I can do X, but already have A, B and C on my list so which do you want me to deprioritise?"

The most annoying thing to me when I'm busy at work is when people still message. Email and call me even when I've got the Do not disturb status set, out of office on and have told people I don't have time to deal with them.

I agree with both pps.

You can't generalise. Depends on the job, and what the issue is.
